I don't think the ECI modem will ever see G.INP firmware..

Considering TP-Link have rolled out firmware for the same chipset Lantiq VRX-268 on their VDSL router it can totally be fixed by a firmware...

rolling it out and working are 2 different things.

the latest openreach statement confirms both eci modems and dslams cannot do upstream retransmission. Instead they fall back to interleaving, so yes people can still use the internet but is a performance hit on latency and headline speed.
