Amazon appear not to be stocking themselves so it is down to Amazon Marketplace and suppliers on that can be very expensive, especially where things are in short supply.

In reply to a post by MCM:
Both Broadband Buyer (9 devices) and CCL (6 devices) have various model Fritz!Box products on their web sites however CCL appears only to carry ADSL rather than VDSL products with most of those shown as out of stock.
I was referring in my post to those dealers listed on the AVM site. However I did check Broadband Buyer and couldn't find any Fritz products at all, so I'm not sure what I was doing wrong.

If BB are carrying them - and I don't doubt what you say, it's just that I couldn't find them - all to the good since Fritzbox with built in DECT is probably the model for future UK home routers once domestic VoIP goes mainstream.

on a side note i have been testing the latest VDSL router from zyxel that has just shipped the VMG1312-B10D and although basic at £60 is performs well and runs very cool

Before you give up on the D7800 it might be worth installing openwrt firmware, this should give you far more options compared to the stock fw.

It supports DSL whether that includes VDSL2, not sure. No harm in giving it a try...
