Ooohh!

So the second cable can be avoided?

By a private address I'm a bit confused. Same subnet but outside the router DHCP allocation range? Which it is anyway in my, if not most, cases in order to read communicate through modem LAN2. Or something else?

I've found the port binding box I think, on the WAN connection page.

Does it have anything in the ATM settings?
Ah! No VCI/VPI, but wouldn't TR069 set those if used by the ISP?

Openreach should update it, regardless of ISP.
I'm not so sure that's true now we have mainly self-install.

I was amazed to find my AAISP router came pre-configured to existing OR modem >> WAN port (LAN4), not to use its inbuilt VDSL2 modem crazy.

When I queried it they said that's because Openreach records showed me as having OR modem + router and they always keep it the same. I think it even said HG612.

On self-install I wonder if they bung out updates anyway? It seems unlikely. What we don't know here and now is how Tim's FTTC will be supplied by uno. Self-install with Tim not ordering a modem or modem/router?

Might have to bung the unlocked firmware on to be sure it g.inp ready.

That link is a bit confusing, but it does emphasise it ends up with only a single cable between modem and router. The need for the second cable seems to be only for the setup process, which I think could be done off-line with the modem and computer.

That's how I do the unlocking anyway, just using LAN1 of the modem.

BatBoy may elucidate, or I might have a play around another day.

Or even now ....

Which wasn't a good idea. Dammit.

I now have to start up my wired machine, which is fortunately near the modem, and reset the modem's own IP address frown.

Fooooooddddddddd calls.

So what's your LAN address and what address did you give to the modem?

Ensure both LAN1 and LAN2 are not bound to the WAN wink

I was just trying it with a non-Tomato or what else it said router, and also forgot to go through steps 14 onwards at first. Then found I didn't have anything corresponding to the instructions it gave at that point. The need for food then took priority.

I had set the modem to 192.168.3.1 but wasn't gaining access - and yes I had unticked the binding box.

Did a factory reset on it finally expecting that to put it back to the 192.168.1.1 but it hasn't. But I'm working wirelessly and lost connection with it completely. It's still working in bridged mode of course, with no problem.

The wired to router one is now up and running I expect so I can play with sorting it out tomorrow, but have my doubts if I'll be able to get it single-wired with my kit.

We shall see, once I'm not tired and hungry smile.

In reply to a post by RobertoS:
Mine does support G.INP.
Bearer: 0, Upstream rate = 14989 Kbps, Downstream rate = 59500 Kbps
Bearer: 1, Upstream rate = 0 Kbps, Downstream rate = 0 Kbps
The Bearer 1 means it is enabled on the line and in use. The zeros are because it gets a tiny amount of bandwith, 200bps I think, so is rounded down.

Interesting and a bit strange that the retransmit channel would be so slow, that's if the bits really go at that speed, I don't know how it works.

I have recently unlocked one of these, but no G.INP AFAICT.

Do you get counters for bearer 1 with

xdslcmd info --stats or xdslcmd info --show ?
