Which Broadcom Router?

I currently have a TP-Link WDR3600 with a HG612 modem.

I am connected to what I believe to be a ECI 128/256 FTTC cabinet based on the information here http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/fttc-cabinets.htm

The 2.4ghz N wireless on my current router isn't very good and the wireless from my ISP-supplied TG582n is actually more stable.

I would like to spend up to £100 on a new router which will last me a good few years, the Broadcom chipset appears to be the one used in higher end routers and seems to have good wireless credentials.

I have a narrowed my choice down to the Asus RT-AC68U, the Archer C9 and the Archer VR900.

Does anyone have any suggestions of their own?

NOTE: People recommend Broadcom for its VDSL2 chipset performance usually, it may be that the extra silicon looking after the wireless side is also good with Broadcom, but NO need to match the chipset for modem and Ethernet router.

Given the AC68U is showing up at a penny under £100 on http://amzn.to/2gIxdkB then I'd probably opt for that if in the router game, the TP-Links are great but not that different price wise currently and the Asus interface generally feels better and there seems to be a DD-WRT community so options to go non-standard for even more features.

Is it worth the extra £10 to have the AC68U with the integrated modem? I've read it's had issues with huawei based cabinets?

Stay away from the Asus DSL-AC68U, it uses the mediatek dsl chipset which is notoriously unstable. The TPLINK VR900 is the one you should go for in your budget, it's an excellent 3x3 router with a rocket solid Broadcom chipset and excellent wifi.

Alternatively, if you are happy using the HG612 then get the Asus standalone RT-AC68U router, Asus make great standalone routers, it's their combined modem routers which are pants.

Which of the two routers has the better QoS? I want to ensure that my PS4 Remote Play works as well as it possibly can over wireless.

The RT-AC68U has the better QoS and you can customize this further by using Merlin firmware. Wrt cost, i think its more than £100 on Amazon for non Prime members?

I have just noticed that TP-Link Archer VR900 V2 is going to be on sale on Amazon on 23 December. Worth the wait?
