I love my HomeHub 6, never had an issue with it. It works flawlessly, I also split my SSIDs, the range is great too

I actually stopped using a custom router when I got my smarthub, it had better range.

Ain't such a thing as a stupid question.

Look for ADSLx/VDSLx in the routers description.

ADSLx for normal broadband and VDSLx for fibre.

Yes, you presumably want to buy a router that has a VDSL (and perhaps ADSL) modem that will connect to a phone line. A number of the more expensive routers don't do this, they just have an ethernet port that connects to a separate modem such as the BT supplied HG612.

If you have FTTC to a Huawei cabinet, then its best to find a VDSL router that supports g.inp

OP, as you're willing to spend a couple of hundred you should buy the very best modem router money can buy.

Going for one of the 4 stream Mu-Mimo routers such as Billion 8900AX, Asus DSL-AC88U or TP Link VR2800 will be your best bet. All of these use the latest (or new-ish) Broadcom xDSL chipsets and wifi coverage will be the dogs you-know-what. When I recently tried the VR2800 on my backup TalkTalk FTTC line, it gave me the highest attainable rate ever - 85Mb. Amazon were recently selling the VR2800 for £159.99 which imho is an excellent price but I think they've jacked up their prices again.

I have a homehub 6 laying around, used for around 7 months, one leg missing but stands up fine. Never had a problem or reboot in that time (apart from essential stuff). Happy to post to you.
