My router did the same a few weeks back,then I noticed that several routers I manage locally all did the same be it 80/20 or 55/10, it seems BT are turning the wick down,as all my routers and the comments I have seen on the forums is that they are all clamped at the same new speed, 73999 is the new 80000

All this seems very unlikely. It would be all over the BT forum here, and I�ve seen no mention of it. Which forum are you seeing it reported as common please?

Are all the routers you control on BT Consumer, (Retail), or are you talking about BT Wholesale or Openreach? �BT� is often used by posters to refer to any of those.

Only Openreach can cap the sync speeds in the way you describe. So for what you say to be true, the ISP/CP must have requested it.
