I've used AAISP and IDNet for FTTC. Of the two I would go back to AAISP. Aquiss I have not used but in the pre-FTTC days I was frequently recommending ADSL2+ providers, where in effect the choice was much wider. They were always in my short-list of five.

Not everyone uses the internet as hard as you must do. My router tells me I used 400GB in Sept, and 350GB in August. I work from home and watch a lot of internet streaming TV shows. (Netflix, Amazon, AppleTV+ etc).

These include the line rental, but no analogue phone service.

Expensive, but not insane, when I'm paying £47/month for Virgin Cable (200 Mbps download / 20 Mbps upload).

Don't forget that AAISP have a roll-over policy which carries forward half of any surplus quota to the next month and that you can also change the quota tagged to your account at any time.

If you use 400GB in an average month you could sign up to the 2000GB package in month one then drop down to the 300GB package in month two. Over the months you would see the following allowances:

Month 1 Allowance 2000GB Usage 400GB Carried forward 800GB
Month 2 Allowance 1100GB Usage 400GB Carried forward 350GB
Month 3 Allowance 650GB Usage 400GB Carried forward 125GB
Month 4 Allowance 425GB Usage 400GB Carried forward 12GB

At that point you again take on one month of the 2000GB quota.

Rounding things out your annual spend would be 9 x £45 + 3 x £55 = £570 or an average spend of £47.50 per month which again is not an unreasonable amount given the service level.

Not only does unused quota roll over, so does unused roll-over. (Not easily obvious from your correct example ). On my 200GB I started most months with well over 350GB available.

Apply the same principle to the 1TB or 2TB tariffs and .....

Plus they keep improving the tariffs. I joined on 100GB 80/20. After a while they dropped the 40/10 product and gave those users the full 80/20 at the same price. (Obviously that only benefitted those who could get over 40Mbps sync). At the same time they dropped the price of 80/20 to the price of 40/10.

Later they doubled the allowance on all tariffs.

Whether there have been any later improvements I don't know. I ditched landline broadband in December 2018.

Its AAISP im favouring to be honest. The 300GB package should be more than enough for me as im not a heavy user plus with the rollover i should be fine on the rare occassions i go over the allowance if i ever do. I dont mind paying a premium for a good service.

Is it easy to switch to the 2TB package if i find im consistently over the allowance?

I'm guessing that you used the Billion on ADSL and switched to Plusnet's router when you switched to FTTC. You can't use the Billion (as perhaps you know) as it doesn't have a VDSL modem. You'll either have to pair it with a modem or buy a combined modem/router.

I'm using a 7800N paired with a HG612 modem. I've found that it gives a good, stable connection. I tried a Fritzbox 7530 but had problems with stability and a poorer connection speed.

I'm sure others can advise on a good combined modem/router if that's what you'd prefer.

I've said this before and I'll say it again - I'm keeping my HG612 until FTTP is finally available. I have a Draytek 2762 but I'm hoping never to need to use the modem part of it. The HG612 might have been the cheapest kit BT could find but as a modem it does a damn' fine job.
