Modem upgrade from Billion 8800NL

[link to this post]

Years ago I had a rubbish connection and an Billion 8800NL was suggested as being able to get the best speed via SNR out of my line, which it did and I was happy.

It's 8 years old now and has a habit of rebooting every now and again and I wonder if upgrading to something newer might give better performance?

I've got an 80/20mbit VSDL connection.

I don't care about WiFi as I have access points setup already in all the right places.
I don't need many fancy features beyond basic DHCP configuration, port forwarding and DYDNS registration.

I was kind of hoping I could spend another £60 and get something better, but I'm not seeing anything? Any recomendations?

This one will be fine for your VDSL2 need but it slightly cost less than £80. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0851D1MF3

Dedicated modems for FTTC seem to command a decent price.

I’m moving from Plusnet so need a new modem - I use Eero for WiFi so I’m also not bothered with WiFi options.

I spent £8 on a used Zyxel VMG3925 from CEX.

It connects with similar speed to my Plusnet router and has 4 Ethernet ports. I’m not sure what spending an extra £70 would get me.

Most folk seem to change routers when what they really want to do is improve wireless connectivity. If that is the case, adding one or more wireless points would make more sense.
