Hi
Has anyone had FTTP installed lately? I am just wondering on how long it takes two install on the day? They have made two apps one to fit the outside box and the other to fit the internal fibre, they have quoted 5 hours but I am wondering if it will take that long?
Cheers

BT talks about 7 hours for getting the cable the final metres to the property and the kit being installed
So no not unreasonable at 5 hours

Surely it will depend on whether it is via ducting or pole?

It is via pole, and only 80 meters from the fibre coupler in ducting, cant wait!

Hopefully you will take photographs, as the work proceeds and post the link to them here, along with any interesting details, please.

They made two apps one for the outside box and one for the fibre install but the app for the box has since vanished so I guess they are just doing it all on the one day, I can do some pics and some results

That would be great. A real, live install, pictorially documented would be of interest to many people.
Thank you.

Well they come today to install the white fibre connector box outside which he said didn't need to go next to the NTE socket, which goes against what I had read on the net, it now sits about 3 meters away from the hole the phone line goes in, looks like they have replaced the flying wire to the house too, I will get some pics in the morning.

Where is the internet saying the fibre termination needs to be next to the master socket?
In a lot of cases probably convienent to have them close.

It doesn't usually take anywhere like 5 hours to do step 1. That's worse case scenario. It can be as quick as an hour. Stage two is quick, it just involved drilling a hole in your wall, splicing the fibre from the white box onto another piece of fibre that will be put through your wall and plugged into the FTTP modem inside your house. This is then connected via ethernet cable to your HH3. Also, your phone socket needs to be transferred onto the new copper cable you'll also notice has been run from the pole along with your fibre tube.
