General FTTC Enquiry/s

[link to this post]

Hi,
I have noticed today my exchange is on the new rollout list,
Is there a set amount of time before the BT Checker updates so i can tell 1. which cab i am on?? (3 possibilities from what i can tell) 2. If my cab will be enabled?? 3. A reliable speed estimate and activation date??

My exchange is YEOVIL if that helps

Thanks

There was list of Postcodes to Cabs around a while back.. I'm sure one of the regulars that has a copy will offer to look it up and tell you which cab you are (probably) connected to.

I hope there will be somebody with a new list of a ISP that can tell me, however the exchange was only put on the list today.

EDIT:
I also have a pole right outside my front door so i'm not sure weather thats a contributing factor or means i am not directly served by a cabinet.

We need the post code before we can establish the cabinet(s) serving it.

My copy of the spreadsheet doesn't have this postcode, or indeed anything beginning BA21.

But it is over 6 months out of date. It isn't likely to have areas that have *just* been added onto BT's rololout plans.

They haven't added Yeovil to the current PCP to Postcode list, at a guess because it's a newly added exchange to the rollout plans.

As WWombat says, sorry. Mine will be the same as his, April. There is at least one poster with bang up-to-date info though, so maybe he will pick up on it.

It's possible some of the cabinets near you are Virgin Media. BT cabinets have a 2/3/or occasionally 4-digit number. VM as far as I know always much longer than that. I've got a few pics here. 1000 yards wouldn't be great for FTTC.

I know for a fact they are all BT cabs as they have the 2 digit numbers and VM won't come anywhere near us try say its to expensive.

BT cabinets have a 2/3/or occasionally 4-digit number.

??? Mine has a single digit on it, the number 1. I don't think I have ever come across a four digit PCP.

As these are newly planned exchanges we (nor any ISP) has any data on a postcode/cab level as of yet I'm afraid.

Well, a singular person deserves a singular cabinet tongue.

There was a discussion a few months ago when I said they never went above 2 digits. See your post there, and an earlier one re Trafford.

I think it's a game BT likes to play. I thought I'd pop onto the checker and see if it had changed now that my cabinet is in place and all the workmen and equipment have left.

I was right - it has changed. It now doesn't mention 'fibre based broadband' at all.

The Dec list shows your postcode now. 87% of your postcode are connected to cab 26 with no plans for FTTx. The other 13% (although it's listed as 12%!!!!) are connected to cab 80 with and 8 x times speed increase expected and it's in Phase 9a.

It doesn't have dates, just phases which don't mean a lot as the phase tends to relate to the overall exchange rollout rather than each cab.

However, for that exchange and cab it shows;

{LNILC}{P66},0,100%,4.7,5b,No,FTTP

That means that it's been removed from the current 5b schedule I believe.

No, sorry doesn't show locations - have a wander round, it's likely to cover one corner of the postcode area I assume, shouldn't be more than about 500-600 metres from the edge of the postcode area.

I have just found cab 80 it's about 350 -400 meters away on the opposite side of my road as with a lot of the cabs here, I am served by a pole but just beyond my house on the corner of our cul de sac is a BT duct but looks to be going to the flats nearby, does the list say anymore post codes covered by cab 26 and 80 I can hopefully work it out from that.

Edit:
Does Anybody have a list they can upload or link me to as me and a few friends are really intrigued for a few of them all we can see is BT ducts no cabs.
