My exchange is enabled - will I get FTTC ?

In the huge spreadsheet, I found this for my postcode:

NEMP,MORPETH,NE616TE,{NEMP}{M_C},1,35%,,,,

This has a lot less detail than, say, this for an area on the other side of town,

NEMP,MORPETH,NE612DJ,{NEMP}{P1},0,5%,4.1,6b,Yes,FTTC

I can't really interpret this, but when I try the latter postcode in the checker it suggests March 2012

When I try mind, it does not....

Will my area be getting FTTC? Can I tell which CAB I am on, etc ?

You appear to be served direct from the exchange, (are you close to it), and if so, no you won't get FTTC.

Yours, confused of (near) Morpeth.

Well in total those cover 98% of the lines to the postcode, so I gues there's a few rounded down ones and it's really all of them.

The {P10} means cabinet 10. The {M_C} stuff means an exchange connection, as does the 1 in the next column, (see the column heading). Zero there means cabinet feed.

Have a wander round and see it cabinet 9 or 10 looks liukely, or the exchange is more probable.

Have you tried this checker? Using just the phone number. Address might work if you haven't got a BT line, but Postcode will be useless as it basically works on the same info as the spreadsheet.

I just want to find out what I might get. I currently get around 2.5mbps via BeThere.

According to SamKnows the exchange is 3113m away from my postcode.

Thanks - that checker just lists my current rubbish connection.

I've no idea where my cabinet is, or what it will look like.....

if you are on an exchange only line look out for a forthcoming solution in the future, ive read something is on the way from Openreach but nothing has been announced to date

Which would only be of help to those on short EO lines. Many EO lines are much longer, in the case of our development, with 75+ EO lines, they are approaching 2.8Km based on our attenuation (2.3Km by road from the exchange).

In the BT spreadsheet for Dec 11, it appears that my postcode is served by one cabinet and that it is enabled, and yet the BT Infinity checker tells me that Infinity is not available to me. Can you advise if I am misreading the data in the spreadsheet?
