Ok postcode should be fixed for good now. Using a different method of removing the space.

I'll try and find a fix for the high resource usage in the morning smile

The line length comes from http://windows.mouselike.org/be/index.asp?DoAction=C...

and the estimated attenuation is simply that /1000 then *13.5 (approx loop loss of copper per km)

Mine says this:

Phone number checked: 01254230095
Postcode checked: BB55XP

Data found:

Exchange: Accrington

Recorded Line Length: 4051m
Estimated Attenuation: 56dB

You are connected to Cabinet 53 which is currently planned to receive FTTC

You cannot currently order FTTC.

No speed estimate is currently avaiable for your line.

Can someone break this down for me? Why don't I have a speed estimate yet frown

Works fine for me:-

Data found:

Exchange: Oldham

Recorded Line Length: 5283m
Estimated Attenuation: 73dB

You are connected to Cabinet 51 which is currently live and accepting orders for FTTC

Your speed estimate for fibre is:
Downstream: 30Mbps
Upstream: 5.7Mbps

The only snag is that the Recorded line length is all the way from the exchange & thus the FTTC attenuation values will be much lower from the cabinet.
Indeed my FTTC DS attenuation is around 22 dB, over a line length from the cabinet of anywhere between 800m & 1100m.

Using 13.81dB per km for typical 0.5mm copper telephone wire, my attenuation should really be between 11dB & 15dB, although the higher VDSL2 frequencies will no doubt be further attenuated. That much in fact that I can't get anything at all from the highest D3 band plan.

The 22dB that I mentioned suggests a line length of 1.6 km from the FTTC cabinet, which is complete nonsense
