Install complete - Disappointed I guess :-(

Just had my Infinity install completed, and I am a little disappointed.

BT Checker tells me:

Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a fibre technology with an estimated WBC FTTC Broadband where consumers have received downstream line speed of 62.6Mbps and upstream line speed of 20Mbps.

but running speedtest.net I get 37.1 down & 8.3 up.

An improvement, but nowhere near what I was hoping for.

Is there places I should be looking in the Modem or Router to see what I might be able to improve.

Walking distance, I am around 300 meters from the shiny new cabinet that they've just installed. And the engineer told me I'm the only one connected so far at the Cab.

How sure are you that it has been activated as an 80/20 product rather than 40/10? If your order was in system before the 80/20 was live last week, you will have to now opt for the upgrade

When did you place your order?

If you placed it before last Wednesday when BT announced the 80/20 service then you would have been ordered the 40/10 connection.

If you go to www.bt.com/infinity and click on the "already have infinity" you'll be able to upgrade to the 80/20 service free of charge. But it'll start your contract again but for you that's no biggie as it's just started today.

I DID order before the announcement last Wednesday ( I ordered on the Tuesday), however, on the BT order page it says:
Your order � BT Infinity Option 2

Part of your Broadband and Calls bundle
Your package includes:

Up to 76Mb download speed
Up to 19Mb upload speed
Advanced security software
Parental controls
Unlimited WiFi minutes
24/7 support

I've rebooted the router, but the speeds are still the same.

I can't see anything about a IP Profile page on the MyBT website?

The speedtest at http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/ gives me very similar results. Almost identical.

Clicking the "already have infinity" on my BT page, it tells me:

Sorry, our records show there's already an existing order for this phone line. Please check your details and if entered correctly, call us on 0800 121 8085 to speak to an advisor for help. Lines are open Monday to Saturday 7.30am-10pm and Sunday 9am-6pm. Which I'm guessing is obviously the order that has just gone active.

The fact an open order is still showing suggests

1. There may be a regrade order in the system for the faster speeds, which will happen in a few days.
or
2. The current 40/10 order has not fully closed yet.

I would not be surprised if the BT web portal was giving uncapped speeds to tempt people into taking the upgrade. While frustrating give it a few days, and see if the 'already have infinity' changes, or speeds change.

If by next Monday no change, then will have to try phone support or maybe @BTCare on twitter

However, If I'm on the 40/10 and only actually get 37/8, then I was under the impression that even enabling the faster profile probably wouldn't actually help my speeds as I wasn't even getting the maximum from the lesser profile. Is that not right then?

37/8 is perfection from a speedtest when talking about the 40/10 product.
Sync is 40Meg, then allow overheads and its 38Meg at most.

profile 17a (The faster one) is active on all FTTC lines, the difference is whether the sync cap at 40/10 is holding you back. Attainable figure from hacked modems will help indicate this.
