Look at the FTTC cabinets here http://www.robertos.me.uk/html/street_cabinets_etc.html and see which make you have, now I've realised that I'll have to check mine tomorrow.

Edit: My cabinet is an ECI 128, and I'm pretty sure all the other cabinets in our area are the same. So no modem unlocking for me yet. Mind you by the time it goes live, the guys over at Kitz may have cracked it anyway wink

So my FTTC cabinet looks like the following:

http://www.robertos.me.uk/html/bt_furniture_2.html

Is that an ECI or a Huawei one?

R0NSKI I'm also connected to an ECI cab.

But I've bought a Huawei modem off eBay (~£20 delivered) and it actually syncs faster than the ECI modem.

I've got a fair bit of noise on my line, max. 62Mbps, ECI gives 47-49 IP Profile, Huawei gives 51-53 IP profile.

cheers,

Stan

Its good to here it's improved things, I grabbed one off EBay on Sunday, £26 Inc p&p, one went on Saturday for £14.

Just got to hack it and wait for my cabinet to go live, others nearby went live at the weekend.

I see there's several different firmware revisions for the HG612, linked to from http://huaweihg612hacking.wordpress.com/ on the right hand side.

SP06 - Presume this is an old version
SP10
SP10unlocked002 - Presume this is the most recent.

Come someone confirm which version should be used, I have a HG612 3B (from ebay)?

I'm sure there was a post on here regarding this, but I can't seem to find it.

You should be using hg612_unlocked_sp10_firmware.zip. I'm not sure where you're getting "SP10unlocked002" from.

I'm not sure where your third one, (SP10unlocked002) comes from. I just see zips for unlocked versions for SP06 and SP10. Somewhere around there I remember reading that the SP10 should be fine on an SP06, but if you look underneath yours I think you will find it is an SP10 anyway.

Thanks for the replies.

If you follow this link https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B6wW18mYskvBZDE0YmN... taken from the wiki, it will show two files on the left hand side.

Clicking the SP06 then shows 3 files: SP06 firmware, an instruction PDF and a readme
Clicking the SP10 shows 3 files: the PDF instructions, the SP10 firmware and the SP10unlocked002 firmware.

I've currently flashed the unlocked002, but would like confirmation that this is correct? Which it seems it's not from what you two have said, and if not where did it come from?

@kasg, in fact the file you uploaded in this post ( http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/fibre/t/4124658-re-... ) contains the SP10unlocked002 firmware.

Looking at the folder names implies the other version is the original, and therefore not the hacked version.

Edit: It's a shame the PDF instructions don't mention which version to use and make it clear.

and when I click the SP10 link on the left I get this

Can't understand why you can't see it, the file is called bcm96368MVWG_fs_kernel_HG612V100R001C01B028SP10unlocked002

For some reason the page doesn't seem to display quite correctly, but that shouldn't affect the files that are downloaded. Asbokid, some times when you've done something yourself thing that appear obvious are not always obvious to someone else.

Got to go, wifes giving me grief!

Oh OK, I just didn't look at the very end of the file name, but as one file was contained in a folder called "original..." and the other in a folder called "unlocked..." it seemed pretty straightforward; either way there's only one zip file to download.

I see what you mean as well. The 002 file is indeed the one, if you read the full pathname. I never spotted that when I did it.

Thats the funny thing, when accessing via google docs, I don't get an option to download the zip. It opens the Zip within Google Docs, and then half the web page seems obscured/not displaying correctly in either firefox or IE.

Anyway, at least I know I am using the correct firmware file, thanks.

There's an option under Maintenance:Device:Configuration File to download the configuration file, but it's grayed out. Is there any way to enable this so I can back it up prior to and after changing settings?

Yup, that's the one! It is the unlocked firmware image for all hardware revisions of the HG612 released to date (06/12).

The zip file - hg612_unlocked_sp10_firmware.zip (7,783,934 bytes) contains the following:

Google Drive (relaunch of Google Docs) still isn't very intuitive. However, there is a download option. It is found under the pull-down File menu.. See screenshot: picturepush.com/..hg612-..fw..link-screenshot..

Thanks for clarifying that, it seems that Google Docs was not displaying correctly, I tried both IE 9 and Firefox 12, and this is what I got http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv87/Ronskiman/Co...

Notice the lack of the menu buttons top left, and the oddly coloured lower section of the screen, it displays correctly this morning though.

The MD5 checksum matches, thanks.
