Suspicious?

[link to this post]

I had FTTC installed on Wednesday 6th June - as the cabinet is just down the road, I was expecting and got good speeds - 71.3M down, 9M up.

Exactly a week later phone and broadband went dead; broadband came back almost immediately but phone is still dead and - to quote BT - We've had a look at your problem and think we can fix it by the end of 19/06/2012. MyBT says It looks like the problem is in or near to your home.

Is it my nasty suspicious mind, or did the Openreach chap cock things up in some way?

No he didn't.

But the one that installed someone else's a week later did. Or even just fixed someone else's line problem.

Yes, that makes total sense. But why does it take them a week to fix it?

But why does it take them a week to fix it?

MBORC (matters beyond our reasonable control) has been declared in a fair few areas, basically, Openreach are a tad busy at the mo.

I was meaning the floods, of course smile.

I've commented here many times on what a lousy job it is in bad weather. How any decent connections are made at such times is baffling.

I had exactly this and it was an engineer installing another customer and mucking mine up. It needed an engineer return to the cabinet to fix.

Nice Openreach chap working at the cabinet gave us back our phone yesterday. Did quick 1571 check to get messages, found 3, all left on the day after the phone had gone down:
- One wrong number
- Mother in law
- BT apologising for the phone being down.. can you beat it!

So just one out of three would have been useful ! But had you received it, there would have been no need!

At a guess, it was probably just a single IDC connection that had not made correctly - it happens.

How is your speed? Same, or better?

Sounds like that cabinet is on a weekly rota tongue.

You mean you had to ask him? It wasn't on his job list?
