And care to share the analysis of the 1000's of cabinets being pushed back, or is the sample the usual - one or two?

Yep very annoyed that my exchange has been pushed back till Sept, been looking forward to June for ages. They managed to complete another exchange a few miles down the road in June when promised, but delayed our local exchange.

How very dare they make you wait another 3 month.
I bet you wish they would just forget your exchange like they have done with many and that way you would not be so annoyed when they had to push back your special date.

I feel your pain.
May god be with you

Infinity Website says Accepting orders.

Wholesale checker says pushed to Sept 2012

What one is usually correct ? (I am guessing the wholesale checker) although it seems a little naughty if BT are implying I can order it via them but not anyone else.

@iwish

From that reply it sounds like your a lot more frustrated than me.

Maybe me being annoyed was a little strong, I'm a little gutted then it was not done in June because I was expecting it since last year. Nothing wrong with anticipating a date only to be disappointed.

Oh and please keep your imaginary creator well away from me, thanks.

Accepting orders means THE EXCHANGE not every cabinet.

The ADSL checker tells you (in theory) the situation for your line.

Since eveybody who had a date of 30/06/2012 has been pushed to September 30th 2013 does not mean they will all have to wait that long.

Cabinets are enabled gradually within an exchange area depending on number of subscribers, further works to unblock ducts etc.

Your cabinet could be enabled next week or it could be months away - we cannot tell.

You ARE lucky that your exhange is enabled - many people are still waiting for the exchange to be scheduled, works to start and their cabinet enabled.

It makes no difference which supplier you would order the service through - they all have to wait for Open Reach to enable the cabinet and the ALL suppliers can, if they wish, offer the service.

Ex <n>ildram , been to SKY MAX - 15,225 Download
BE Unlimited - 21,000 Download 1,200 Upload ON THE LINE THAT SKY COULD ONLY PROVIDE 15,255 DOWN AND 800 UP ON!!!,
Moved house, now BE Unlimited 6,500 Down, 1Mb/s up - gutted!
FTTC Cab installation commenced 12th April - expect full 80 / 20 - bye bye BE, hello BT Infinity soon!

Wholesale usually more up to date, since Retail takes the wholesale data, suggests BT Retail has not updates its cache yet.

Look ups can cost money (50p per time), so some providers run their own system based on the releases of data, but takes time to update.

According to Samknows Collyhust serves 14,950 residential customers which doesnt make it particularly large at all.

You are not suggesting the the whole of the greater manchester should be rolled out in preference to the rest of the country are you? Somebody has to be at the back of the queue!

Thanks for the clarification, that is pretty much what I had guessed, but as I had not seen the exchange in a announcements list ( WWBWAT ) I was a little confused.

thanks for the clarification.

Mine is now showing Sept instead of June , But as of only yesterday plans for the 32 cabs which they are going to deploy was revealed via the council's street works site , as prior to that apart from a few markings( DSLAM) near to some PCP's and a lot of unlocking existing ducting and a small amount of install new poly ducts, there was no indication of FTTC being deployed here , and most of the duct unblocking kept getting pushed back by openreach and there is still some not done even now . organisation doesn't seem a strong point

Wonko

If the Infinity checker says 'accepting orders' and that is what you want, place your order!

If you don't want Infinity you should use the ISPs checker you do want, as some enable exchanges faster than others. They each have to connect their own backhaul or rent it off someone else who has got their own.

It is surprising that BTRetail are saying they can accept orders as they usually get their backhaul via BT Wholesale, but the wholesale checker could be a day or so behind hand. However ISPs do know when the backhaul is meant to be delivered so may be taking orders in advance of go live next week!

Hmmm, my exchange is accepting orders but my cabinet has been delayed till 30th September. That explains why I haven't seen any work on my cab, yet plenty of nearby cabs have been done.

Go to the open reach website here;- http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/where-and-when/

and put your postcode in.. you will see a marker with your exchange.

and/also.. put your postcode into the link in my signature. (remove the space between the digits),
that will tell you if your cabinet is planned for it.

and, go to the BT site, and put your phone number in.

My exchange was due in June and has been put back to September.
Is the general opinion on here that it could be sooner than September?
Could it get put back another 3 Months when September comes?

My 12 month contract with O2 runs out this month I can wait 3 months but if it keeps getting pushed back I might as well shop around and get a deal on 12 month contract again and save a bit of money.

What kind of activity from BT have you seen in the area? Do you have new fibre cabinets around? This is they key to knowing if you'll be enabled soon or delayed further.

There's been a new cabinet at the end of the street for a few months now.
I did see fresh works leading up to to the cabinet soon after, so assumed it would be ready to go.
