New Install but packetloss showing?

Hi Everyone

Just had my BT Infinity installed loving it so far but I've noticed that I'm showing quite a bit of constant packet loss shown on my broadband quality monitor.

Does anyone know what would cause this?

Interestingly I checked pingtest.net and it showed no packetloss is this an issue with thinkbroabdns ping monitor ?

Can anyone also confirm if I'm currently placed on interleave ?

Ignoring the early stuff, (some of it to do with your flashing the modem? ), that does look a bit of a high packet loss level to me. I think it is more likely that pingtest.net is the incorrect reading, as I've never seen anyone doubt the tbb BQM validity, and it does show a summary of 1 second tests over a period, as opposed to a few seconds bashing.

You are definitely on Fast Path. The line "D: 1 1" shows the interleaving Depth down and up, where the number indicates the number of cells the original cell has been split over. So 1 means the cells are not split = Fast Path.

The latency does seem high for Fast Path.

I guess you rebooted the modem or router at 20:20? Stop messing!!! The Openreach DLM is very sensitive until midnight on the day after the day of connection. So be very careful until Thursday, or you could cause low speed banding.

Thanks for letting me know, I'll let it alone for a few days to see if it settles down, some webpages have been running slow which is why I rebooted the modem / hub a few times to see if that would clear the issue.

If it comes and goes at particular times of day, usually ISP congestion. If it is like you posted and gets worse, something dodgy about the connection.

Have you altered the physical setup since the engineer left? Like moving the modem and/or router? (I just want to rule that out).

As Impulse Noise Protection & delay are all zero values, these are NOT slowing thinks down either, which does almost suggest that contention and/or external routing may be the cause(s).

Can you provide a link to your TBB and pingtest.net results. They will show what is happening but do NOT contain any data to identify you.

Remember that pingtest is a short term snapshot whereas TBB is continuous.

Pingtest which does not identify me.

But the TBB monitor only works for Static IP addresses.

Infinity does not come with static IPs unless you have the business version.

Did you change the IP address used by the the TBB monitor to the IP address that your initial connection to FTTC used? This would give total loss.

No way out of this unless you continually monitor the IP address of the modem.

TBB monitor needs a application to update it like the DDNS updaters that decent routers have!

Edit:- You could always get a Samknows White Box to monitor your connection. It does very good speedtests and measures packet loss outbound rather than pinging your router which is always within its rights to discard if the traffic is heavy.
