Can anybody please confirm 100% that the bt_test@startup_domain test user works on Fibre ?
|
|

If your FTTC service is BT Wholesale based, yes, but it's bt_test_user@startup_domain.
Why do you ask ?

I don't know why he wants it, but I think he got that incorrect one from this post.

Yep, saw that, and replied.
Guess he's trying to see if the problem is at Wholesale or ISP level. Most of the engineers don't have their JDSU/Exfo's set up for PPP on VDSL. Set mine up myself, so as to spot stuff like this on faults/provision. I couldn't get the damn thing to work for ages, until there was a thread on here donkeys ago, about configuring an all in one Draytek, and the lack of PPP was finally traced to the VLAN setting .....

As far as I know my FTTC service is BTW based but I could not get my router to connect to this domain so it raised the possibility that the service was not BTW based.
bt_test@startup_domain is where I wanted to be so as not to be using any of my ISP's provision.
See here http://www0.more-solutions.co.uk/support/bt-test-use...
Using ADSL this will not work for an LLU provider.
I am 50 Mts from the cab and it appears they are restricting my throughput to 11Mb and some Sky FTTC users are reporting half speeds.
If it works for you are there any opportunities whilst there for a speed test ?, and can you check your IPprofile ?.

??? You only get 11meg sync at 50m from the cab ???? Surely some mistake ? What does Sky have to do with anything ?

Throughput not sync? my throughput to 11Mb

If you tell us your ISP we can probably tell you whether or not your FTTC is WBC or not.

I don't know if he's with Orange, Eclipse or Sky

Is this not the same bod from the Eclipse FTTC thread ....... I really should pay more attention ! He posted out of the blue in that thread, presumably having tried the link given by the Eclipse rep. He isn't the OP of that thread.

Your all talking about me as though I was not here !.
How come a first post is classed as "out of the blue" ?
No I'm not from the Eclipse post so is somebody else using my user name there ?
I can't find it so a link to it would be helpful.
I AM attempting to discover wholesale or ISP problem.
If my ISP's supplier was using Sky as a backhaul I might have the Sky slow issue.
Years ago I was a Eclipse ADSL user and it did not work there either, because they were using a TalkTalk backhaul and they switched that to a BTW product so it might be that we cannot rely on a list because it does vary place to place.
Tracert to Google.co.uk first hop is to Griffin Technology
So it looks like I'm not on a BTW product ?
Nobody has answered positively that the BT test domain does work on "fibre" only that if you are on a BTW product it should work.
The ISP second level support says it should work !!!, but it don't, brings me right back to my first question.

Try bt_test_user@startup_domain

I can't find it so a link to it would be helpful. BatBoy has posted a link to your post in the Eclipse thread.
That post of yours was "out of the blue" in that it was not contributing to that thread, just asking for information about the bt test domain, with no reason given for asking.
That information, identical to that in your opening post here, presumably comes from the post in the Eclipse thread to which yours was a reply.
Your opening post here, over five hours after the one in the Eclipse thread, appears to be a copy and paste of your post there. It was answered here, and the Eclipse staff poster was corrected there.
Any more questions?
