Wondering if anyone has any idea how far a cabinet is along the process of commissioning when it appears in the address checker?
Address STREET SIDE DSLAM CAB NMCEQI, WAGGON ROAD, LEEDS, LS10 4GT on Exchange HUNSLET is served by Cabinet 82
It's not in the ground yet but Openreach estimate this year - that match other people's experiences?
Does the reference indicate that the type of DSLAM needed has been decided and allocated?

Every line with a cabinet will get that mention, even if the cabinet has no plans.

No, there are several properties in that postcode. I see the cab can't get FTTC.
What's a "NAD Key and District ID"?
|
|
|
It has not been possible to return
data for the given NAD (Name &
Address Database) key as there is
either no associated DP or there are
multiple DPs linked with it.
FTTPoD perhaps ?
Not seen a cab on the address checker before, and can't reproduce it.
District ID is the first two characters of the exchange ID which make up the MDFSiteID...
A combination of CSS exchange code and
district code e.g. WWNABB.

I guess you need to know the Postcode a cab is in. Access to the PCP to Postcode data would help https://www.google.com/fusiontables/DataSource?docid...

I couldn't reproduce the example in the OP ?

I've seen many a cab listed under a postcode, here's the ones from my local area, just enter the postcode in the address checker.
They often show up before the cabs even installed, so I just presumed once BT had decided to install a cab it was added to their database.

I've never seen it before, but I've always tended to use phone numbers in the checker, rather than the address checker.
Looking now, I can see that our existing cab can be found, with a predicted 80/20 speed.
I presume the DSLAMs go into the address listing because they end up with their own phone line - as part of the alarm & monitoring capability for each cab. And knowing the rest of BT's systems, a phone line can't be ordered unless there is an address for it to be registered against.
I guess, therefore, that it is beyond the "vague planning" stages, and into concrete provisioning.

Large Huawei. Unlikey to be stood until late summer so looking at sept/oct activation possibly.

I had naively assumed that when building name or number was marked as a required field I had to enter something, now I see it works with postcode alone.

If you already have a BT-like telephone provided over 'ordinary' telephone lines; eg almost any apart from Virgin cable,
you will get a much more reliable result by putting in your telephone number rather than your postcode.

Hi Ribble,
Did you get the info on which cabinet it was from the NM part at the start of the designation or do you have hidden powers?
I did wonder about that as I noted a correlation between NM at the start of the code and big Huawei DSLAMs but assumption makes an ass of you and me.
|
|
|
|
The NM is generic and forms the FTTC cabinet ID. Does not identify the cabinet type.

Ours is a large Huawei, code NAAMGW.

Thanks for the update. I would've been astounded if anything else had been installed given takeup in local area and history behind it.

I couldn't reproduce the example in the OP ?
The FTTC cab that appeared at the top of my road a few weeks back has an entry that I found fairly easily by postcode:
STREET SIDE DSLAM CAB NNAHWF, COLLEGE LANE, HURSTPIERPOINT, HASSOCKS, BN6 9AB on Exchange HURSTPIERPOINT is served by Cabinet 4
Talking to a friendly OpenReach guy who was working nearby, he said that the cab has both fibre and power to it, although not running yet, and he thought it wouldn't be too long before it was connected, 200 users max. That is more hopeful than the 'Dec 2014' shown for the FE site data.

Wandered past this guy today and saw a surveyor deciding where the cabinet would go.
Be interesting to see the timescales from this point on.
|
|
|
It would be amazing to know the thinking behind some of these decisions.
It appears as though a large Huawei was stood for a cabinet covering 173 premises...

Some markings on pavement showing the usual utilities - red for electricity, blue for water, white for telephony.
No sign of anything on pavement for cabinet, however the guy did say that it was going to be stood in the grass next to the original cabinet.
As there are a lot of questions and comments about timescales I'll keep an eye on this and update as things progress.
The wonderful, talented and beautiful Ribble mentioned that the cabinet was unlikely to be built until 'late summer' however I've been informed it's been marked as 'important' whatever that means, so we'll see how it goes.

|
|

Sadly there have been a few issues here, so this cabinet may struggle to be stood by late summer.
There ducts feeding the cabinet are full, there are no e-sides available to connect people to POTS let alone for a fibre microduct.
It is not possible to dig to deliver more duct capacity as the road this cabinet lives on is awaiting adoption by the local authority and the developer refuse to allow roadworks until it's no longer their problem.
I'm liaising with BT and council to keep all of this as smooth as possible and having my nuts chewed constantly by the local community.
|
|
|
|
Just updating this the cabinet is stood though I'm not sure of where it is in the provisioning process.
Hopefully all will go well and it'll be ready to go in the not too distant future.
