My FTTC Cabinet / Modem

Hello All

Please could someone help identify which manufacturer my FTTC cabinet is?

I'm pretty sure it's the ECI one, but I have seen on various sites that Huawei make small cabs too!

I'm only asking because the Engineer from Kelly Communications ([censored] company but that's another story) gave me a Huawei FTTC modem.

I have got hold of a second hand ECI FTTC Modem but will this work any better than the Huawei one?

but the huawei modems cab be unlocked for stats, whereas the eci ones are difficult.

Its an ECI Cabinet

Many years back on ADSL it was a case of matching modem to DSLAM just to ensure maximum compatibility. As developments moved on it was no longer necessary.

When BT first started VDSL installs the modems matched te cabinet - just to minimise initial teething issue. Now, you can get either modem with a cabinet.

My cabinet is Huawei and I replaced my Huawei with an ECI a few months back and gained 4Mbps - changing back drops the speed, reinstalling ECI brings it back. I have heard of cases where it can worsen it and also where a Huawei is on a line from an ECI cabinet the results are slightly better. It is a case of try it and see.

It's probably a case of which modem deals the best with the line conditions, when I tried an ECI, with an ECI cab it was worse.

You've already got the right answer , but just in case someone else comes along wondering about theirs, I have a few pictures on this page.

A lot of people get mixed up by VM cabinets close to them as well.
