Green cabinet box.... another one?

Hi all,

Over Summer '13, a green cabinet box was installed. Then the power. After that, nothing was happening.

Then got the 'going live' date of Dec '13. Great, I thought.

Until... 2 days ago, a hole was dug up next to the new green cabinet box. Then the cables put in place. And a new green cabinet was placed next to each other!

Is this normal? Could it be because they fitted a smaller one and realised that they should have fitted a big one? Or is it being used for something else?

Don't have a pic yet as it was raining at that time. So I thought I'd post here to find out.

It's hard to be certain without pictures, but it is possible that the first cabinet was actually reshelling the existing PCP cabinet, and the second cabinet is the FTTC cabinet.

I managed to take another good look earlier this morning when driving past. It's not a fibre cabinet but still green, is a bit taller and it has the yellow electricity warning sticker on the front.

Power for the fibre cabinet?

Photo is needing! Just go out and take a photo and post here. Then we will tell you if it was cabinet or not.

Now looking at the link you posted, it seems that the 1st one is the ECI128 but in green. Not sure about the 2nd one, tho! I'm assuming the power for the 1st green cabinet?

Both of them are next to each other, while the main exchange cabinet (where my line is connected to) is down the path which looks similar to the "Another old PCP" photo from the link you posted.

2nd one looks like a water pump control box ? When fibre was blown through to a box near my home they had problems with water getting into the chamber, so they installed a pump - with it's own box. Could be wrong.

Yes looks like an ECI 128 cabinet.

The other smaller probably mains cabinet is a bit more of an oddity, but maybe needed as part of getting the mains into the ECI cabinet. It is usually just some mains wiring to the fibre cabinet, no general need for an extra cabinet.
