BT Infinity 2 [domestic] with only router

Would some kind soul provide the essential settings that are required to be entered into your own router for BT Infinity 2 on the domestic service. An Openreach modem is already there so obviously the WAN port of the privately purchased router will be used. Please don't forget to mention the MTU setting that should be used.

PPPoE with username and password set
As for MTU leave at default and see how it goes.

Your response implies that is not the case. Please enlighten me what the probable format would be.

Hi, I would think if you are using the openreach modem then a separate router you should just be able to connect the wan port of the openreach router to wan port of your router. just have it set to dhcp.
if my thinking is right you should be able to connect direct to the openreach wan port to test this.
(i.e. I would have thought openreach modem handles the login details.)
I am not sure as I have homehub 5 and this does not use the openreach modem.

DHCP will not work, and the WAN port of the Openreach modem is a VDSL2 port so no use.

The Openreach modem handles the VDSL2, the authentication process is started by the router or even a directly connected PC

Yes, they do. That username is all you need to get it working. Some routers insist on a password so you can user 1234, BT, secret, anything you like as a password.

In use will be a Draytek 2830vN so it looks as though the username will be:
[email protected]

The MTU value can't be left to chance because Sure Signal will be connected to the router, just opening up the appropriate ports isn't enough to get that working. I think an MTU1442 will be required as well. Further feedback welcomed.

My Suresignals work with Infinity with the default MTU

No need to open any ports, just plug and play.

The Openreach modem makes the connection. The attached router supplies the PPP stuff.
