It depends what you mean by CP trials.

The phase 1 trials have used real customers, just a limited geographical area (in Barnet and Braintree).

BT seem to want to run some phase 2 trials, using improved hardware, in the same location.

its not as simple as that either, I have a cabinet 20m from me, but cabinet coverage isnt a perfect circle its more like a banana moon shape. Even with that taken into account I am 200m or so from my cabinet by road but my actual distance is nearly 440m (info provided to me by openreach). So I have a copper length of nearly 440m even tho I am 20m from a cabinet, because BT made the decision to not optimise D side's, as you said they just want coverage of the service rather than making it as good as possible.

Thanks for the info WWWombat,
I suppose I was just wondering what the chances of getting to try it out would be.
Unlike other trials they are probably dealing with individual cabinets rather than enabling entire exchange areas and allowing random trialists to sign up.

Zero commercial case to do so. No operator is going to do that for free.

Yes, my understanding is the same: the trials are for a very limited number of cabinets, but everyone on those cabinets is compelled to take part.
