Cabinet Location

[link to this post]

Hi, I am after locating my cabinet for my street... It seems most of the cabinets that I have seen and the one which I thought was for our address have had a new fibre cabinet installed and apparently they have gone live, but for some reason when I put in my number it says it's not yet available and I'm connected to Cabinet number 28 in Trawden, colne lancashire. Exchange is COLNE LCCOL. So not sure if the one I thought was for our street is and I want to know is where our cabinet is as I can't seem to find it. Thank you in advance for any help received

Yes there is and it's gone live according to a friend who had fibre fitted yesterday, she asked the person who was installing her fibre, but when I check on bt wholesale site etc it says fibre not available yet... So I am puzzled. And that's the one I think we are connected to but it's saying it's not available

It is one of the questions where if you were told the answer you might be the last person to get any information

I keep looking every day to see if the adsl/fibre checker is giving a date.... What I don't understand is why install a fibre cabinet and not set it live along with the other ones in my area.... Feeling very frustrated to say the least, even if it gives an estimated date, I will be happy.

Not sure if this a hint of when said cabinet goes live, but when I put postcode into availability checker on the bt whole sale site it says, FTTC multicast June 2014, but when I put phone number or address in that bit doesn't come up.... I really hope it comes soon

Unfortunately, some people didn't like it when the estimates proved badly wrong - and complained to ASA about it. The upshot is that it makes it less & less likely that you will get estimates nowadays.

It probably means that your postcode is covered by more than one cabinet, and one of the others is live.

If you want to see the status of every property in your postcode, try the address checker, and enter only the postcode. That will give you a list of addresses you can work through, to see the status of each.

I'm sure I've seen them connect the power line up, the road was dug up a few times. And it was installed about the same time as the rest of the new cabinets in my village but seems to be the only one not live yet. I'm getting impatient now lol

Just seem the guy working on the cabinet that provides our street and asked if it was definately cabinet 28, he said yes, so asked when will it be going live? He said he didn't know but it shouldn't be too much longer as he has just switched it on and then it's up to BT, so presume they will do some tests then it will go live? So there is finally light at the end of the tunnel smile

Even more good news. The adsl wholesale checker has updated to show FTTC and availability date 30th June. So not long now. I'm hoping to order sooner as I know things can change smile

The date is getting closer, am hoping to order very soon once the checker says available, here's hoping that all is going to plan and it will become live when they say it will 30th June

30 June is the end of the quarter. So while it's possible that it will actually go live on Monday, it's more likely that this means somebody said "Yeah, hopefully Q2 2014" for a group of cabinets and didn't mean specifically next Monday and your cabinet. In their heads, getting it working next month or the month after is pretty close. Obviously if you're pacing about waiting for faster connectivity this will be unsatisfactory, but that's why people said earlier in the thread that estimates had been so poorly received.

I went onto the FTTC site that tells you about each cabinet, it says phase 11B and it part of the BDUK plan, what does phase 11B mean?, also it said deployment date 30/06/2014, also if the phase is anything to go by, I've put in other postcodes in the same village but are connected to a different street cabinet and I know they are live the Phase say 11B for them too, so if that's anything to go by then I don't think it will be long now

Is there anyway in finding out if it is going live on that date or later July? The cabinet has been in for a good 3 months now and it's all turned on, checker says 30th but I know that's not a definate date and it could be before or after... Does anyone know?

It failed tests done prior to putting the cabinet into service/ accepting orders.
In reality it will probably go into a black hole and may come out into the far side of the universe sometime.
I wouldn't hold your breath waiting....
