Will HomeHub 3 work with Zen fiber?

Finally coming to decision time and im thinking about changing from BT infinity to Zen Fibre unlimited, i just wanted to know if i can continue to use my OR modem and HH3 until im ready to buy a better router (as zen doesnt provide a free router).

If it will work, is there any links/posts/guides as to how to set it up etc?

I don't know anything about the HH3, however the requirement is that there is a WAN port, or a LAN port that can be configured as a WAN port.

A quick google suggests that the HH3 was a WAN port marked "GiGE" (Gigabit Ethernet) - you can proably confirm that by plugging a PC into that socket. If it *doesn't* get an internet connection, then it's probably a WAN port.

Someone with more knowledge of the HH3 may be along shortly

The HH3 cannot be unlocked....you will not be able to enter your zen username.

One advanced option is to unlock the modem....set this to do the ppp login, DHCP and firewall etc and use the HH3 as an wireless access point.

or buy a cheap tplink (cable) router (£20 argos/currys etc)

See, everyone says this. But BT actually sell unlocked HHs in the republic of ireland, stating that they work with any broadband provider.

So unlocked firmware for them does exist....

I gave a spare HH3 to my Dad who is using it on Plusnet (adsl).
No problems entering username and password.

BTW the WAN port is labelled 'Broadband/BT Infinity" and is red. The GigE is a LAN port

I set up a HH3 on plusnet yesterday......plusnet is part BT......plusnet details are not locked out of home hubs.

If you can put a username and password in then it should work no?
Are you saying the firmware has been modified to allow only BT or Plusnet usernames?

It looks as though it may be hardware and firmware related

They sell it in the UK too. Arogs and Amazon sell them for a start. It's a version called the BT Home Hub 4R (the R standing for retail).

I don't think there was an equivalent for the Hub 3 though.
