If I had to guess given that its showing an available in the future date it will be one of the last Openreach Commercial Cabinets to be commissioned.
Openreach seem to be ploughing all their resource into meeting BDUK / commitments / targets. The BDUK cabinets never have a to be enabled date in the future.
Its likely there is a blocked duct or something else. You should watch roadworksscotland to see if any roadwork's for Openreach are scheduled ( none at the moment) That's a good indication of what OR is up to.

Some progress

We're connecting power to the new fibre cabinet and joining the new fibre lines to the existing copper network. You can't order a fibre service today but typically it'll be available to your premises within the next four months.

Well we will see.

this cab seems to be the only one not enabled

Also cabinets 10, 12 and 14 are still waiting for fibre, so cabinet 17 isn't the only one on your exchange that isn't enabled.

It also seems that cabinet 17 is still down as connecting stuff up.
It could be down to issues getting power to it.

The described reason for lack of service is stated as:
Sorry it's taking us longer than planned to get your cabinet ready for service. Please bear with us.

Mine is exactly the same and in exactly the same situation (originally expected to be live late 2012, been pushed back since). I've done bits of research myself in this time on what the description could mean, and it appears to be that they've struck an issue with connecting the cabinet up, either to power or fibre cables - I would've thought the fibre cables (in my instance, may not be the same for yours) as the cabinet is literally next to a street lamp.

Not worth the wait. I get 4 maybe 5 mbps faster with FTTC compaired to copper wires.

Your line is the exception rather than the rule, I assume you're considerable distance away from the cabinet?

Regarding being next to a street lamp, my local FTTC is next to a Street/Road sign post, complete with light and signs originally.

To connect power to the FTTC, because of financial aspects and agreements apparently, all of the signs and the lamp were removed, leaving a BARE Street/Road Sign Post, with its power now connected to the FTTC from inside the post- and I watched much of it being done!

None of Signs were replaced on other adjacent poles, raising questions as to the legality of some of the road infrastructure - No Warning Signs.

I suspect there may be greater problems with your street lamp.

It's a bit of a strange situation with mine as they've resurfaced all of the roads and walkways intersecting with the fibre cabinet and replaced the street lighting to the new LED ones, all within the past 6 months, yet Openreach seem to have not taken advantage of that.
I honestly have no idea what the issue is with mine. They could've easily installed power lines or fibre cables to the cabinet then, they could easily do it now (the road isn't commonly accessed and there's at least 3, so it's not like they're going to get in the way if they choose to block it off for a day or two).

I'm thinking maybe my cabinet isn't going to earn them a huge sum of money from being fibre-enabled as half of the connected premises (including myself) will only be able to receive <25mbps.

If the road has been resurfaced the council may have issued a section 58 notice which would prevent BT from digging up the roadway for perhaps three to five years..

Thanks for the response!

It'd be incredibly annoying if that is the case. I believe one of the pathways (which the cabinet is next to) which joins up to the main road alongside one of the smaller resurfaced ones is still waiting to be resurfaced - do you know if theres any chance that the power/fibre cables can/will go below a footpath? Because if not then I may be waiting another 5 years!

Edit:
Just found this on my local council website on the section 58 notices page:
In special cases statutory undertakers can dig up a road if ... they need to provide a new service to a customer
Could that also apply to fibre cabinets?

They can go under almost anything, what will happen depends on how the power company decides to supply the power to the cabinet.

On the doing it all at the same time, depends on whether notice was give to all the utility firms and whether that lined up with what the roll-out was doing in the area.

Certainly not in the case of Lambeth where a section 58 order has prevented/delayed BT installing the fibre feed to our community gap funded AIO cabinet. All very frustrating. I hope you manage to get your connection soon.

Power and fibre connected. LA objected to some of the proposed work required to connect the cabs together , hence the delay
