waiting for fttc

So my friend is getting pretty annoyed at his date getting pushed back 4-5 times now

Address 18 MARQUIS ROAD, ABERDEEN, AB24 2QU on Exchange ABERDEEN NORTH is served by Cabinet 17

all the info I can get so far

this cab seems to be the only one not enabled

as I live 5mins away and have had my cab live 2 years +

we originally had the same date for our cabs but mine went live and his still hasnt

anyone find out why its taken so long to enable?

If I had to guess given that its showing an available in the future date it will be one of the last Openreach Commercial Cabinets to be commissioned.
Openreach seem to be ploughing all their resource into meeting BDUK / commitments / targets. The BDUK cabinets never have a to be enabled date in the future.
Its likely there is a blocked duct or something else. You should watch roadworksscotland to see if any roadwork's for Openreach are scheduled ( none at the moment) That's a good indication of what OR is up to.

We're connecting power to the new fibre cabinet and joining the new fibre lines to the existing copper network. You can't order a fibre service today but typically it'll be available to your premises within the next four months.

Well we will see.

Also cabinets 10, 12 and 14 are still waiting for fibre, so cabinet 17 isn't the only one on your exchange that isn't enabled.

It also seems that cabinet 17 is still down as connecting stuff up.
It could be down to issues getting power to it.

The described reason for lack of service is stated as:

Sorry it's taking us longer than planned to get your cabinet ready for service. Please bear with us.

Mine is exactly the same and in exactly the same situation (originally expected to be live late 2012, been pushed back since). I've done bits of research myself in this time on what the description could mean, and it appears to be that they've struck an issue with connecting the cabinet up, either to power or fibre cables - I would've thought the fibre cables (in my instance, may not be the same for yours) as the cabinet is literally next to a street lamp.

Feel bad for my friend

he bought a house here and is stuck with not so great speeds for a few years now

I know its not the worse speeds of course but

since mid 2014 its said coming soon or JUNE30 ect.

Having problems also with the availability date being pushed back.

Not worth the wait. I get 4 maybe 5 mbps faster with FTTC compaired to copper wires.

Your line is the exception rather than the rule, I assume you're considerable distance away from the cabinet?
