Do I need a separate openreach modem ?

Hi all

I am looking at finally moving from 8Mbps ADSL broadband to 76Mbps Fibre with Pulse8.
The Router that I am looking at buying is the TP-Link Archer VR600 which has a built in modem.

I was under the impression that I could just connect this to the filtered master socket and I would be good to go, but they tell me that I still need a separate openreach modem.

That will work without a seperate Openreach modem.

You can still use the Openreach modem if you really want to and use the above linked device purely as a router.

The OP would need to get an Openreach modem then as they're no longer supplied.

Yes, you have the correct answer.

Why would they need a modem?

The product they have linked is a VDSL modem/router.

More if they want to use an Openreach modem as per your second paragraph because the OP won't already have one.

Ah Matt . It wasn't at all clear in your first post that you were referring only to the second sentence of the post you replied to. That the OP would need to buy one from somewhere if they wanted to adopt the second option.

From the tone of the OP though I imagine the last thing they want to do is have a two-box solution.

So just to summarise. The TP-Link Archer VR600 will be fine to use on it's own without the need of the BT Openreach modem ?

And yes I am just looking for a single box solution. The less clutter/wires the better.

I don't believe I did say they needed a modem.

I said they COULD still use the Openreach modem if they wanted, but that they didn't need to as the product they linked had a built in VDSL modem.
