G.Fast in High Wycombe?

[link to this post]

Someone else posted about thinking they saw a G.Fast pod on their PCP in Wycombe, so I wandered up to my PCP this morning, and unless I'm going crazy, there's a G.Fast pod bolted to it:

Am I right, and if so, what are the timelines roughly to see it available after the pod has appeared?

I'm surprised that, unlike the FTTC rollout, there seems to be little or no information available for the G.Fast rollout, beyond the pilot areas that Wycombe isn't a part of.

Cheers,
AP

It's not ready yet, there's no high security lock.

Additionally, it seems like Openreach are installing a lot of cabs but non are live yet.

I suspect they're waiting until the have a number of cabs ready to go before the product is launched. It's still in pilot at the moment.

I'd expect it to be launced some time in the Autumn.

Any clue what the "high security lock" looks like? Every pod I could find on google looks like this one (with the 2 circular locks).

They're usually silver, like you find on the FTTC cabinets.

Maybe I'm being daft, but the pod has 2 silver locks, which look exactly like the ones on both the PCP and the FTTC cab. What am I missing?

They're not locks. The lock is the bulky bit in the middle of those 2 silver key points.

Those key points are similar to those found on the covers of external gas and electricity meters.

Do BT offer it to any ISP's? That might be the clincher!

Blimey, I've got one too - at least I assume that's what it is, it wasn't there before. No ventilation slots though.

It's not a G.Fast pod, it's for additional copper connections only.

The ones with no air vents are not G.fast but a side extension of the PCP to make space for more lines without adding a full second cabinet
