Hi
From all the pics i've seen of a G.Fast pod all seem to be an extension unit on the right side of a PCP cab. However in my case where my PCP currently stands, there is a driveway access point for a residential customer immediately to the right of the PCP cab, so how would BT go about installing the G.Fast pod? Would they instead add it on to the left side of a PCP cab? (where there is ample of space)
TIA

Can go on either.....
......Side
That's interesting thanks for that! However what if the PCP cab has an extension for extra lines ... can there be a G.Fast pod extension on top of an extension?

No, has to go on the other side.

Hmm, what if it's physically not possible to make it go on the other side? (as theres a residential driveway which prevents anything from being extended on to it) Would BT physically shift the whole PCP cab including the extra line extension a meter left to generate extra space?

Probably not. Might well not reach the commercial criteria. Reshelling a PCP is one thing, moving one alongside a stand-off shell is another level.

Driveway needing access ...so what! Just put it there!

I would guess the cabinet was in place first though.

Don't worry that's not even a garage, let alone a driveway

Plenty more cabinets where they can fit the pod with no hassle

Checking the planning portal for that location shows it was approved in 2002 as a garage - that cabinet is potentially newer than that.

That's interesting then, because the side view on google shows that it's being used a residential extension and there is no dropped curb in place. My guess that's why it still shows a kind of door to make it look like it's a garage when it's not.

Street view shows the window has been open for 8 years! Maybe it smells a bit. The roller shutter is probably a wee stop for the local doggies.

Yes. Pretty busy for a cabinet that was initially rejected for FTTC. Passes about 650 premises and has nearly 100% FTTC take up. The cabinet on the left as you look is a 288 port Huawei, the one on the right is a Huawei extended to 384 lines, with the PCP with stand-off shell for extra tie pairs on one side and the G.fast pod on the other.
I'm sure it's not the only node that looks like that but doubt there are all that many. It's the exception rather than the rule.
You have to wonder if, perhaps, FTTP wouldn't have been a better idea than all that stuff, mind.

The window does move in the three views available.
