I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable than I am can provide some help. Until yesterday, I was receiving 40 down/10 up service from Gamma. My achieved download speed was 36 to 38 down and 8 to 9 up, with my modem connecting at 40000 down and 10000 up and a SNR of 14 to 16 both directions. Today, my new 80 down/20 up service kicked in. My modem is connected at 60790 down and 16756 up with SNR of 6 in both directions. However, there seems to be little change in my achieved speed. The TBB speedtest I just ran was 35.5 down and 8.7 up.
When the speedtest starts, it initially spikes up close to 50 before dropping back to 36. I had hoped for a real increase in speed and am quite disappointed that this seems to have made no difference. I have restarted both my Asus RT-AC66U router and DrayTek Vigor 130 modem. I am connected to my master socket thanks to assistance rendered a few months ago by GregorMac who thought I should be able to achieve a download connection speed of 66 based on some command line input into my modem after the changes we made to my internal wiring.
Could anyone provide some suggestions as to what is going on and how to improve my achieved speed to a level closer to the modem connection speed. Many thanks in advance for your help, and I'm very appreciative of having the TBB Forums to consult for this assistance, particularly since the providers themselves seem incapable of delivering a high quality of customer service.
