DSL Checker Observed Speeds

[link to this post]

I have notice that DSL Checker has updated new layout when enter telephone number with observed speeds for VDSL (and maybe G.FAST as I don't have it) and it also addition of FTTP not available.

See screenshot of my line url link below:

It works for me from the old URL I have bookmarked, which redirects to the right place:
https://www.btwholesale.com/adslchecker/

I also notice the new section "Observed Speeds", showing the actual VDSL download and sync speeds seen (albeit as of last month)

Thanks, that works. I'm not getting an "observed speeds" section for VDSL as i don't have FTTC, however for my FTTP line there's an extra bit of of info which didn't exist before:

ONT exists with active service. A spare port is available. A new ONT may be ordered.

Screenshot:
https://i.postimg.cc/pTCtDF9S/BT-checker.jpg

Maybe BT/Openreach are offering me a free 'upgrade' from the 4 port to 1 port ONT? No thanks BT, I'll stick with what I have smile

Edit: Also no more ' 1 stage' or '2 stage' in FTTP Install Process section.

Well I can only check by NAD Key + District ID or by full address due to my actual phone line is FVA.
But I also see the same message:

*** NADKey + District ID ***
Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:- Single Dwelling Unit Residential OH Feed with no anticipated issues.

ONT exists with active service. A spare port is available. A new ONT may be ordered.

*** From Address Checker ***
Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:- Single Dwelling Unit Residential OH Feed with no anticipated issues.

ONT exists with active service. A spare port is available. A new ONT may be ordered.

I also don't see any "observed speeds" section either.

I also think I will stay with my current 4 port ONT LOL

The CBT being present in no way guarantees that the full fibre run back to the aggregation node is present lit and commissioned

I only had FTTP installed a couple of weeks ago, as a 1 stage, connectorised, but with the new changes, my line is now showing 2 stage.

Also I see the extra: ONT exists with active service. A spare port is available. A new ONT may be ordered.

I only have the one port ONT installed, what does the spare port available actually mean?

Now let me think who could use all this information...

Broadband providers but worse as its public the scammers could use it to figure out what services you likely have and tailor phishing emails/calls accordingly

Ah so that section is nonsense then.
For her line it sates "Last Test Date 08-11-2018".

For the observed speeds section is sates "Observed Date 2018-10-17" so guess that was me?

*Edit, RE:

Never mind, i've seen that it was October now.

I checked my Mum's phone number and it has the Observed Speed as 80000/20000 on 4th Oct 2018 but she has only had a 40000/10000 service since fibre because available in her area. I assume this is not the "observed" speed based on the type or product on the line but is "observed" by something else.

Sorry about the random reply, just replying to someone I know is fairly sensible! smile Mine is approximately correct (75110) as at the date given (2018-10-05) but I have been syncing at 79999/20000 for the last month, so I presume it will update at some point.

Mine is showing 72620/13360 on 26/9/18 when the actuals were 72620/13368. It appears to be rounding down.

What is odd however is this is not the downstream sync speed reported to the AAISP Radius server!

You may recall that if on G.INP the IP Profile is a lower percentage than on either Fast Path or standard Interleaved. (I think this has been discussed more on kitz than here). The IP Profile when on G.INP is always based on the considerably lower figure shown on the Radius server. What I haven't established is whether it is Openreach reporting a lower than sync speed to BT Wholesale, or BT Wholesale are themselves reducing it before using it.

This new information suggests the latter.

When I first observed the lower than expected IP Profile, long before there was discussion, AAISP said it must be my modem reporting erroneous high sync's, as they could see from the Radius log (which I can see for a short period by the way) that the IP Profile was correct frown.

Their vaunted CS is not always right LOL.

Mine shows 75110/20000 when actual was 75119/20000 so it's rounding down. I have no idea what my sync speed is on Plusnet's Radius server and I doubt they do either! At a sync of 79999 my IP profile is 74.1 Mbps (92.63%) and my Plusnet line speed is 73.8 Mbps. (Yes, https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer... does still work even though they have just revamped the member centre interface.)

My IP Profile on my current 72382 sync is 66.45Mbps. About 91.8%. I can't see back to 11 Nov on my window into the Radius log.

Your PN line speed is very strange as it doesn't tie in with either modem sync or IP Profile, which is above "line speed".

My understanding was that it was always a little below the IP profile, I thought by 0.1 Mbps, but this is 0.3. It was definitely updated when the sync changed from 75119 to 79999 so it isn't "stuck" or anything. One of those things I guess, makes no difference in practice.

I was going to write that the gap between your IP Profile and line speed was strangely high, then went into brain fade and messed up in the opposite direction.
