G.Fast cabinet activation

The G.Fast extension pod appeared on my cabinet about 6 weeks ago. There�s no mention on the BT wholesale site of G.Fast being available to me or any of my neighbours.
Does anybody have a rough idea of how long it takes from construction of the pod to the point when orders are accepted?

The same scenario here, and no, no idea. Sorry.

I used to live in the Bridgeton area in Glasgow. We had the pods on the side of our cabinets for about 6 months before they went live.

They seem to be cropping up in a lot of locations that are/were not on the list. For instance they are appearing all round Brackley even though we've never been on a G.FAST roll-out list. Nor has our [FTTC] parent exchange, Banbury. I don't actually know whether ours have anything in them or if they just the metal shell.

Having seen them go in, they will be fully done in a day. Insides, powered from the FTTC cabinet along with fibre links, the whole shebang unless there is a problem. Basically it is a whole day job for the person installing it.

However getting the additional BT Wholesale backhaul arranged at the exchange can take many months. Which is nuts because you end up with a large amount of capital invested with no revenue being generated.

Some of the villages around Banbury are also having G.Fast pods installed.
A friend, living in a village a few miles north of Banbury, posted that the cabinet was humming away to itself (about 3 months ago) and, in early October, an estimated speed of 282Mbps appeared next to the G.Fast Range A entry in the Openreach checker.

Beats me why BT seem to be rolling out G.Fast to small villages (which already have FTTC) when cabinets in Banbury don't seem to be having the equipment installed and Banbury isn't even on the rollout.

I assumed someone important (from Openreach) must live in that village, as it's hard to imagine BT getting a return, on their investment, when they're concentrating on villages with fewer than 500 residents.

In reality, it seems builds that I have been watching have been taking longer than this. Some places, ignoring trial areas, have taken in excess of 4 months after the pod has been put in place. In my own area, according to plans revealed by the Project Manager of the area, it is expected to take a total of 7-8 months after the pod was put in place, ignoring any time prior that for initial planning.

Unfortunately, each area has its own challenges so it could take much longer. Though it is worth noting that the document I referenced does only refer to the Openreach side of things and not BT Wholesale.
