The rumours on the community forums are it will be in the next couple of months now that details of the new G.Fast hub they will be providing with the two Ultrafast products is now out in the public domain.

It would be interesting to see what speed range Sky will give. Their new internal checker seems to be based on he lowest values of the A/B ranges.

Do you know how long your D side is?

I doubt i'll ever see G.Fast a) I'm on a Huawei all in on one cab b) my D side is 185m.

Dawley does have G.Fast, just not any cabs local to me yet.

D-side is copper between the PCP cabinet and your house. E-side is copper between the PCP cabinet and the copper exchange.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Three 4G, tbb tests normally 35-45Mpbs down, 65Mbps off-peak, 9-24 up.

As the others have said, it's the length of copper from the cab to your house.

I had a line fault recently and asked the Openreach engineer what the D side length was. His box of tricks and the line route maps he had available confirmed the length.

He wasn't trained on G.Fast but said as I wasn't getting full line speed on FTTC, don't expect headline speeds on G.Fast.

Which might be the meaning in Openreach-speak, but would not have answered his question wink.

Your line length and D-Side are essentially the same thing.

It could be argued VDSL2 line length includes the tie cables, while the D-Side does not.
Your tie cables are not 106m.

Where do you come up with 142m for your D-Side?

Come to think of of, where did you pluck the 1667m E-Side figure? That's a very exact figure for a rough guess.

He mentions elsewhere, that an Openreach engineer showed him the results for his line using the Magic Maps app . This will provide exactly that kind of info*.

* it should be noted that the detail this app provides is always a guesstimate, and often clearly wrong
