Wish me luck

[link to this post]

It's been a very long wait and I'm sure I have lots more waiting to do but today was another step forward in our quest to get FTTP.

Contractors here again today feeding more fibre both underground and overhead from pole to pole but was told straight by the really nice guy it was far from finished.

Apparently it's someone in India who feed them information regarding work / jobs which I found rather strange if I'm honest but hey ho. laugh

Anyway they started a few weeks ago with the fibre on the pole outside my house and today the chap was fitting these things to certain poles in the picture (sorry I don't know what they are) but hopefully another step nearer.

Picture one is a reel of fibre, most likely the tail coming from ...

Picture two, which is a four port CBT (connectorised block terminal) to which the final drops to the properties will be connected to as and when service is ordered.

Picture three is just a generic warning label.

Once they had the fibre to our poles it was just a few short weeks until FTTP could be ordered.

And there are reportedly places where FTTP equipment was put up years ago but never activated.

Stay positive Tim, even if it was 6 weeks, 6 months or even a year its better than waiting until 2033.

Totally agree mate, Been living here since I got married in November 1980 with utter rubbish internet so sort of got used to it.

It was a year ago since we were informed by "Superfast North Yorkshire" we would be getting FTTP.

They first told us then we would have it for Christmas 2018.
They then said April 2019, then we could order by the end of July, all been and gone so still playing the waiting game.

I have one thing to look forward to though.

FTTP has been confirmed which is better than FTTC and the miserable 1Mbps we get now via copper so all my Christmas's will have come at once when it finally gets here. laugh

The contractor I spoke to this week held no punches when telling me there was a lot of tree branches to remove which will mean putting the job out to tender, then getting the work done before we progress any further. Could be months if not 2020 yet!!. frown
