It's the best thing to do. You don't need the copper line which obviously isn't required for FTTP and you can save money. Many people with FTTP use VOIP for their phone calls.
You may have check with your phone line supplier that cancelling the phone line will not affect the FTTP connection, I recall that on the PlusNet FTTP trial some customers lost the broadband when the phone line was stopped because their systems didn't cope with a broadband account with no phone number.
