this is for liverpool central exchange (lvcen). it's been years since i've asked this but on checking it seems i still have no options but adsl2+. last i checked i apparently (if i remember this correctly) have no cab between myself and the exchange since i'm so close to it?
last i heard was this sent to me by a member here checking my postcode for me:
Does not seem to be any data at all for FTTC for the postcode given - Your right it does not give a cab number - there is not even one in the database. There is also no information regarding line length or actual crows fly length it says you are right onto of the exchange - or even in it - but we know that's not right.- but this could be because you are wired into the exchange. That's certainly one of the biggest exchange buildings I have seen for around 4000 lines.
that was back in 2013. am i still SOL and unlikely to have decent BB even over the next 6 years?

If there is no change on the BT Wholesale Address Checker and Hyperoptic are still not playing, then you have to hope Johnson is still around after 12 December and keeps up the push for FTTP everywhere.
In the meantime do you still have this:- thank god for three and unlimted LTE 40Mb down and 30Mb up. If so, are you paying a lot for it or have you moved to either or both the truly unlimited everything SIM at £20pm/£21pm
or
HomeFi Unlimited at £22pm which is a mobile broadband router plus a similar unlimited data SIM.
Both apparently 5G-ready, the phone one at no extra cost (if you have a 5G-capable phone). I don't know about the HomeFi router. Some or all of Liverpool is supposed to get Three 5G during 2019. In addition to the capital, Three has promised to launch 5G in: Bolton, Birmingham, Bristol, Bradford, Reading, Liverpool, Rotherham, Glasgow, Slough, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Leeds, Brighton, Manchester, Coventry, Cardiff, Derby, Hull, Middlesborugh, Leicester, Milton Keynes, Wolverhampton, Sunderland and Nottingham.
These cities are expected to get access to Three's 5G network before the end of 2019. Unlimited tethering to your phone is now also allowed on Three, with a warning that regular usage over 1TB pm might be thought to be business use which is not allowed on those contracts.
My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Three 4G, tbb tests normally 35-45Mpbs down, 65Mbps off-peak, 9-24 up.

Liverpool has been announced as a fibre-first city. There is an 18-month forward looking PDF which says 9 exchanges are included so far: 7 already built, underway or starting within 3 months (Childwall, Stoneycroft, Sefton Park, Great Crosby, Waterloo, Cressington Park, Gateacre) but unfortunately doesn't say what the other 2 planned are.
You are not alone - even bits of central London (e.g. Soho / Covent Garden) are still on exchange-only lines, with nothing between ASDL2+ and leased lines.

Except the plan is rural first which is not going to help in central Liverpool which is a fibre first city anyway so is likely to be covered at some point in the not to distant future regardless.
Also Johnson is a proven serial liar and likely to change tack at any point. Oh he also failed to declare an interest in Jennifer. Regardless of whether the money she received was valid the failure to declare the interest is open and shut misconduct in public office. The UK has no protection for sitting PM's from prosecution. This time next year he could be doing porridge.

My friend is in a similar situation
he was told in 2014 that FTTC was 6 months away by BT retail
it is now nearing the end of 2019 and still no fttc he lives in the middle of aberdeen town center
he is now just considering 4G broadband with EE as he gets about 70-80Mbps at all times in his house via his iphone.
Not sure why he and a few others have been left out while the other side of is street has FTTC
but it is so hard to get answers from OR.
I've been lucky though everywhere i've lived has had at least 40/10 since 2013.
I'm now awating my FTTP install from vodafone and will finally be free of OR for good.

thanks all. i am thinking about trying three's home-fi or whatever it's called but wary since the speeds fluctuate like crazy at times.
my main problem is backing my stuff online with backblaze as i've been doing for over a year 24/7 due to my [censored] 1meg u/l speed. i'm a week away from finishing the backup so might wait and see if the 5g model is better or if my 4g speeds improve/stop fluctuating so much.
i have a feeling though that in 2025 i'll be asking the same questions again

A year at 1Mbps equates to about 4TB of data. Maybe you'd be better off with a portable USB drive for most of it?
At least it will be incremental after the first full backup, although you'll still be limited to about 8GB/day of changes.
My main concern would be restore times: at 24Mbps download it'd take 15+ days to get it all back again. You could always visit someone with a faster connection though

If you are willing to pay an EE unlimited data sim and throw it in a nice 4G home router could be a great thing.
Threes speeds seem to fluctuate a lot more in my area.

"Except the plan is rural first" Says Who?
Where public money is being spent current focus is slower places first, which under current interpretation means rural areas.
Under the current Fibre First 4 million target, unlikely that ALL of Liverpool will get covered, and even with the 2025 Openreach 15 million ambition its a bit of a gamble.
Others may bring FTTP commercially of course.

I doubt theyll put a cabinet in as Liverpool is part of the Fibre Cities rollout as Openreach call it internally. Wait for FTTP which will happen, but in the meantime maybe get a 4G router.
