Any FTTP on poles stages / timeline?

Been trying to find out if there is any time line / steps for FTTP installs, e.g. DP's get added, cables gets laid, etc. Can't seem to find out any information and what information there is fairly old.

Just out of my own techie curiosity just wanting to know the next steps. They already have laid the fiber to the main pole, put up the Fiber DP's (Black Eggcups) at the top of the poles along with transition joints added, which seem to have fibre connected. Are there any other physical on street stages other than run the fibre between the poles from the transition joint poles?

We only found out a couple of weeks ago we are getting FTTP via BDUK when we asked one of the Openreach hoard working on the poles in a neighbouring street. Should have guessed something was up as Openreach have been pulling new fibre our way for months in the main duct, just assumed as we already had FTTC (but with really poor speeds) we would be decades away for FTTP.

Seriously so much depends on getting the light running end to end and then being commissioned and in some areas there can be delays while a new headend is commissioned.

Ha yes I know there is no exact time of when it will go live, was more asking for a time line / stages of what Openreach does physically when doing FTTP over telegraph poles, for my own curiosity. Only detailed information is a great article that this site did in 2016 and that's for FTTP underground.

So far in our case they have run the main fibre in the underground duct (did that in the Summer), have connected the fibre to the transition points, also have installed the DP's along almost all the poles but they haven't run the fibre to connect the poles not on the transition joints. Just wondering is running the fibre the only other step they need to do on street level?

I know with ours they are working to a time line of getting it all available to order by March, but as always will believe it when it happens. Also for information they are also adding FTTP to a large swathe of properties that aren't on the BDUK list - seems if the fibre is going on the pole they are adding the DP's even though they aren't being subsidised to.

Overhead and underground is pretty much the same, the parts may look slightly different but same things...

The various stages follow no set set of rules, so might have manifolds installed but the runs to the splitter not done. Also even when running the fibre, it is possible that they may be run but not yet spliced. For splicing expect to see a person or two with a tent to keep weather off while the splicing is done.

Some areas are known as Fibre First areas and will get lots of FTTP commercially too.

Have an article that should go up this week, but mixed under/overground need to go back and get a couple of overhead pictures.

In this case what I was shown around is actually all lit up (seen a light test), and main spine work was done in early November, so its just waiting final commissioning and connection of the headend to the wholesale networks. Existing headend has filled up so a new one has been added.

I watched them doing all the bits in one of the first 'fibre first' areas, different teams worked on each different job, often in different orders.

However the last part of the non exchange physical work was always doing the final connection at the pole to the 8/12 port distribution box at the top pf the pole.

This was done by lowering the box halfway down the pole (or more) connecting up the fibre and testing light levels. Engineer on a short ladder or standing for ease. The box was then raised to the top and fixed.

As this was one of the trial areas quite a lot was done before anything went live, but once some were live each additional DP or street went live quite quickly (days) after the above was done. Now areas appear to start going live much quicker and in smaller first patches.

Looking forward to the new article, this place really is the only place that goes into the detail of FTTP.

Went and rechecked the telegraph poles after kitcat's experience and all the DP's on the poles have the fibre connected with one lone Openreach guy working on the last one in our run, will be a potentially long waiting game now.
