Cabinet 71 - Still no FTTC (aberdeen city centre/NSLNG)

VDSL FTTC and SOGEA is currently not available on this cabinet due to following reasons:- This cabinet is under review. We'll explore fibre broadband solutions & will update once done..

Its been like this for about 2 years

before that it said coming soon with the dates shifting every 3-6 months.

My friend moved in 2014 so its been 6 years with empty promises

Postcode look up says may this year or is this just a hold date?

AB11 6DY Dee Street Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire 99m ADSL ADSL2+ FTTC doing Field Survey, live due by May 2020 100% area less than 30MB P71 52% area

any truth to this?

The OpenReach checker suggests nothing is planned.

The BT Wholesale checker even has the DSLAM added with a note stating the cabinet is under review.

Is there even a DSLAM in place on Dee Street?

Sometimes they actually install a fibre cabinet then remove it again or leave it sitting unactivated for years.

They usually don't appear on the checker unless installed though. Odd if there's never been a fibre cab in place.

Aberdeen is in the Cityfibre/Vodafone FTTP rollout, so it might be worth checking whether their rollout is going to cover your area.

Dee street is not on current rollout plans

but i am already on cityfibre

this is for my friend im asking as he was told in 2014 FTTC will be at ready to order in about 6 months from BT retail lol

hes considering getting a 4G router + sim as there just doesn't seem to be any info or future in sight for FTTC/FTTP.

While he gets about 20mbps down he would really like higher upload for his call of duty videos.
