Anyone heard of the prices of these new packages as yet.
I heard it was late March when they were announcing the new 500 and 1Gb tiers but sometimes it gets leaked beforehand.
Thank you.

Wholesale pricing has been released but don't think that any of the resellers have yet published theirs.
|
|

No, however if the wholesale pricing is indicative and there are no special offers run you're looking at 3 figures for 1G.
Building better networks, not just faster ones.

Apparently BT are doing trials with some people. Not sure how you ever get in these trials.

Hi
We have carried the 500Mbps & 1Gbps products for some time now. Details are here: https://www.cerberusnetworks.co.uk/node/183#cerberus...
Please note that Openreach need to fit XPON equipment for these speeds.Their time, travel and materials cost is covered in the activation fee for this to take place.

I think the OP refers to the new 550/75 and 1000/110 products, at hopefully more consumer-friendly prices.

I had a conversation with someone at Cerberus Networks recently, on the sales team, to enquire about whether they'd be selling the upcoming FTTP packages (550/75 and 1000/115). My FTTPoD contract's minimum term is nearly up. They told me that they will be selling them but the pricing isn't known yet as they are waiting on 'commercials' from BT Wholesale apparently (expecting them imminently).
I asked if it was possible to regrade to 330/50 (FTTP Pro) in the meantime and then upgrade if the offers for the upcoming FTTP packages are within the realms of what I'm looking for, but unfortunately it seems I must pay off the remainder of the new contract (being FTTP Pro at 330/50) if I want to upgrade to a higher speed FTTP package. In that case I figured that it's best if I wait on FTTPoD beyond the minimum term for another month or two, by which time the newer packages should hopefully be listed on the website. From what I gather from the conversation I had, April looks like the earliest to expect the upcoming FTTP packages to be listed.
I was tempted by 500/165 but I feel that the monthly pricing is a little too rich for my blood, also when adding on the extra monthly charge for the IPv4 block address allocation. The greatly increased upload speed would be nice, but yeah.

Is there room in your boat for me? Show me as +1 on that. Waiting on new prices.
FTTPoD is up in a few days, looked at FTTP Pro £71.50+VAT & FTTP XL £140+VAT (stares blankly - double price for not double).
Or Zen (already have phone line)
Domestic is showing £59.99 inc VAT so only £49pm
Business Full Fibre 4 £70pm inc Critical Care.
Both at 330/50
Hurry up already. <Get someone young to stick laughing face here>

Haha.
Well, if someone only considers the downstream speed then yes it's not double despite the price being double. However the upstream speed of FTTP XL is more than triple FTTP Pro's upstream speed, and then you may also want to potentially consider the prioritised rates (110/50 on FTTP Pro vs 220/110 on FTTP XL).
Hopefully we won't be waiting to find out the pricing too much longer.

FTTP XL £140+VAT (stares blankly - double price for not double).
And most of that money goes to BT Enterprise, not Cerberus.
According to https://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/8680-new-gigabit... the BTE wholesale list price for 500/165 is £90+VAT (and that doesn't include the backhaul)
However, the published OR price is only £55 per month: https://www.openreach.co.uk/orpg/home/products/prici...
The OR price for 550/75 is £27.28 per month, further reduced to £21.28 until 30 Sep 2022: https://www.openreach.co.uk/orpg/home/products/prici...
And yet BTE will sell at £50.

I am all about the download.
We are a set of holiday cottages so mainly streaming TV/Music by guests, upload will be limited.
Even our own use is mainly download, sure all my work stuff is on dropbox, but I reckon everyone else produces more files than me so again will be predominately inbound. Kids watch Netflix and stuff. Probably don't need faster. But price dependant I will go faster.
Typically we max out at about 45-people on site so 300Mbps would be 6Mbps each, at 500 we are over 10Mbps each, and at 1G, well its one 1Gbps. Faster is better, I want broadband at 1.21GW.
And I know Cerberus don't get it all, the world don't work like that.

Yeah download is good, but I would love a bit more upload speed, like 75Mbits to 100Mbits upload would be great for me.

Do you mean OR (Openreach), BTW (BT Wholesale) or BT (the retailer)?
To some extent you may be right. It starts to make leased lines look expensive, and they make a pretty penny on them. Sure Leased Lines will still have benefits from equal up/down speeds and fix-times, but for many businesses the savings vs the risks would make fibre broadband more than adequate.
Keeping the upper end of FTTP expensive may help protect the cash cow.

I guess a lot would like to know that Mark.
I just sent a DM to BT on Twitter and 11 mins later I was given a link where I could register to be "considered" for any current/future trials BT are running.
So you could register and still not get into the trials.
Also not too sure if BT want me to post the link or else it would be on their site.
But there is nothing stopping you from asking them via Twitter yourself.

I doubt any of them care about leased lines in regards to FTTP.
It is in Openreach's interest to sell higher capacity FTTP as possible at lowest cost to head off CityFibre and to a degree Virgin, if they start opening up their network. This is backup by the discounts they are running on the new tiers and talks of trying to get the price lower for the higher tiers based on volume of sales.
Retail wants to be competitive with TalkTalk, Sky, Vodafone, Virgin so needs as low cost product as possible.
Wholesale only really cares about how much money it can charge as it knows it has the retail divisions of BT over a barrel, so prices it to get most revenue for its business; which might end up being less money overall for BT group. Its a slightly perverse situation that the separation of the divisions of BT might actually cause increased prices for the customer in this situation.

Although Openreach must provide non-preferential access, it's unclear to me whether BT Wholesale/Enterprise has a similar obligation - whether for example it could offer sweeter prices to BT Retail than to its other customers.
I very much doubt that BT Group would allow BT Retail to be pushed into the arms of Talktalk or Cityfibre, just because BT Wholesale were getting greedy.

(BTW)
I would have 2nd thoughts if vodafone said to me the price would be x4 for less speed.
Hopefully as all things it will get cheaper in time because that isn't a market competitive price vs altnets.

I also wonder when these are going to be more broadly rolled out. The couple of specialist ISPs that offer them are incredibly expensive. Having said that, I don't really 'need' more than 300/50 but if it's available at a reasonable price .....

The expectation is that BT retail will sell the 550/75 and 1000/110 products from launch. Which means that whilst not necessarily cheap, there may be deals on (cashback etc).
