About to get fibre installed (fttc) and I wanted to know if I need a new cable inside my house? What I mean is it the same splitter and cable from the phone socket to the router or is new cables/wires?
Thanks.

if it is fttc it is no different to what you have now however if it is FTTP ie full fibre direct to the house then yes it is different

Ok thanks. That certainly saves me from ripping up the floorboards to change the cable lol.

Can you describe, in detail, your current set up please ?
Sometimes, what worked for ADSL doesnt work nearly so well for VDSL. It can cause drops in speed, and intermittent loss of sync.

Currently I have normal broadband. 1 phone point at the front door which has a splitter attached. And that has the cable going to the phone and a cable going to the router.

Are there any other phone sockets in the house, even if not in use and possibly hidden behind cupboards, wardrobes etc.?
My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Three 4G, tbb tests normally 35-45Mpbs down, 65Mbps off-peak, 9-24 up.

Nope, just the 1 socket.

Then it *should* be OK.
Sometimes a very long RJ11 lead after the filter can cause issues ( Im talking many metres)

ISP's recommend having the router as close to the master socket as possible for maximum speed so if the "cable going to the router" is a long extension you may lose a little speed, i have FTTC and my router and phone are next to the master socket, i get full speed.

Sounds like I should be ok, at least enough I can sort it easily enough when I get connected.
Thanks Guys!! Appreciated.

a neater solution is to use a filtered faceplate which does away with the plug in splitter (hides it all in the faceplate basically) most filtered faceplates give the option of running a cable to adifferent location just for the router. any more questions just ask away

One thing to consider is the telephone service provision, as this may move over to be internet (VoIP) based rather than traditional copper wire analogue based. I mention this as I recently changed ISP, now with Sky, and they moved me to a VoIP style connection (SOGEA), and that means your master phone (Dect is ok) plugs in to your router, not the landline master socket (which no longer provides telephony capability).
