Fibre 1000 Availability

[link to this post]

What is it that stops a line from being offered the 1000 service and limits it to 330? I am on the Rustington exchange and all I get on the broadband availability checker is 330/50 (I already have the 150Mbps service but I keep seeing people getting good deals on the 1000Mbps service but I can't get them). Is it something at the exchange that limits it or is it something else? I have a single port ONT that was installed about 8 months ago.

There seems to be something wrong with the BT DSL checker - my address has been showing 1000/220 available since I paid for FTTPoD but the checker has recently been showing only 330/50 available. You could try calling the BT FTTP team directly to order their Fibre 900 product.

3 possible reasons:

1) You're on an ECI circuit

2) Your head end exchange doesn't have the backhaul capacity in place to support the higher speeds

3) Error on the public Openreach/BTW checker

To rule out 3) I would call BT sales and ask what they're able to offer you over the phone

Is there any way to check reason 1?

Having an ECI ONT would be a clear indicator. I don't think Openreach mix ONT and OLT vendors (ECI & Huawei) so if you have a Huawei ONT then that probably rules you out being on ECI kit.

Then probably down to exchange backhaul limitation or error on the BT checker.

Tagging on to last post. Thanks all for your responses. I will leave it until things settle a little more with Covid and then see what BT can offer.

I'm in Littlehampton and whilst the checker say 1000/220 available, I can only get 160/30, which is odd as the estate next to mine (new build estate with FTTP from day 1) can get at least 330/50, not sure about 1000/220

I was told there needs to be some upgrades before faster speeds will be available, maybe you are in the same boat as me?

Now

140.85Mb/s - 30.27Mb/s - 9ms

If this is AAISP the 160 Mbps limit is not a local limit but specific to AAISP themselves
