BT/Openreach project info

[link to this post]

Is anyone able to point me in the right direction on who I can contact at BT/Openreach to get a little bit more info on some works on roadworks.org? Imagine i'll just get passed around if I don't get the right department.

Link: https://one.network/?117949356
Works ref: BC112KN-FALFLD8027-GSP1
Project ref: WBMGJP9Z

I know it's a new junction box (presume underground), but this small group of houses is due to get fttp as part of a BDUK project in the next few months and since the majority of the area is on poles except a few meters of ducting I was curious if BT would be able to just confirm if this is related to that, possibly to house a new fttp splitter?

Sorry I cannot help with you're question but interested to know how you get a link like you have shown here on One Network..

I can navigate and see all the roadworks I want via https://one.network/

But not a clue how you link an area to a forum same as you have done here https://one.network/?117949356 with the numbers on the end.

If you don't ask. laugh

Ha, not a problem. If you click on a particular roadworks item, then along the bottom there is a bunch of share options. One is to email which will give you that link.

Certainly does.

Now we just need to find out how we can get more info from the reference numbers.

Let me know if you get a reply, they have been excellent throughout my quest to get FTTP.

No reply so far unfortunately. I've tried the email you suggested and another one I found about their network on openreach's website.

Bizarre I got another update from that same address yesterday morning.

I'm sure it won't go un noticed but as quoted with COVID-19 etc could take a little time to get through all the mail they get sent.

Witchunt's reply is a lot quicker than you will get from the official OR address but just as accurate!

@witchunt are Openreach happy to run new fibre installs along different routes from that of the original copper?

On face value for this project it seems like it would make more sense to bring the fibre along a much more direct route down Tortworth Road but the original copper runs a much longer route along the B4058.

It's gone a bit quiet on the build front. One group of engineers turned up and installed a single CBT and that's been it so far. Unfortunately i've not managed to get a reply from my email to Openreach yet still so trying to piece together scraps of information.

That would depend if they have the necessary wayleaves in place for the "different route".

Please don't take this personally but Openreach are unlikely to take advice from the general public as to the route their cables will take apart from that final drop between CBT and customer.

They'll be aware of what they have in the ground and where their poles are, and will survey to find the appropriate route. It won't religiously follow the copper.

Building better networks, not just faster ones.

Oh no absolutely, I wasn't offering my advice, I was trying to ascertain which way they may go. They've already done the planning stage.

The alternative route is actually closer to the aggregation node, was the route our failed CFP was going to go and is the route they took for FTTP to the next group of closest houses. The closer houses though are two stuck on the end that are the same exchange but different cabinet.

Now this is a BDUK project I was just curious if they would run it that way or there was some reason they had to continue to follow the old copper for potential future network expansion etc?

They don't necessarily follow the copper, because they are completely independent networks.

My FTTPoD takes a different path, for most of the route anyway - an engineer showed me a map. It takes the direct route from the fibre aggregation node, as opposed to the direct route from the exchange, which is in a different direction. The FTTP is also list from a different (larger) exchange.
