GPON Install Part Two.

[link to this post]

GPON Install Part Two.

A few weeks ago I spoke to the chaps testing the PON's in our village, they said it was all going well and do not expect it to go live soon.

But.

Looking at the 'Checker' yesterday I see a change in the

Featured Products
FTTP on Demand 1000/220 This Has gone up from 330/30 in the last two days.
WBC ADSL 2+

I think I have seen this mentioned about FTTPoD changing first on this forum but can not find the post.

So can I expect a change soon in the 'WBC' products and maybe getting WBC FTTP smile ?.

Interesting you say this as I had this exact same change on the wholesale checker with mine (see my recent thread).

I will try and search and see if this has come up before, but very much hoping it is a sign that things are coming soon...

I missed that on your post.
Sure I have seen it before somewhere but could have been another forum.

It just means the database entry for that property has been touched - a side effect of which is that FTTPoD is updated to 1000/220 (which it has been for a while, but they didn't go round updating all the records en masse).

The database might have been touched as part of planning FTTP for your area. That plan *might* have included the property as in-scope for the build - or it could have excluded it. There is no way to know, until you see what they build.

Either way, "do not expect it to go live soon" sounds reasonable advice to me. It can be a long time between the start of planning and the completed deployment.

I'm not doubting that at all and yes anyone seeing the change cannot assume anything as you say as a record update would change that.

However when looking at it from a current situation (mine and OPs where work has been done locally) and coupling that with a number of accounts in the FTTPoD order thread where after completion of local work on CBTs and surveys it also changes on the wholesale checker prior to then moving to WBC FTTP (ranging from 5-8 days gap), the change surely shouldn't just be coincidental as in it's basic form that would only change due to an update - whatever that update is. Caveat is we won't know until we know!

I got FTTPoD just over a year ago, and the two neighbouring properties on the same CBT became FTTP-available as a result.

However, most of the other properties in the street which *didn't* gain FTTP also changed from FTTPoD 330/30 to FTTPoD 1000/220 in the checker.

I suspect that properties in the footprint of the new splitter which was installed for FTTPoD got updated in the database. In other words, quite possibly there is a plan for where these CBTs *would* be installed, but no timescale to install them.

That sounds a sensible assumption and would make sense, OR were installing a splitter node and CBT in my street around 4 weeks ago here.

On the checker page I do notice that it says 'Last Test Date 01-12-2020' (It was April last test date) So that may why they have changed the checker details for me.

The post I have seen is this one and his last post

https://forums.thinkbroadband.com/fibre/t/4656248-ft...

The two guys testing the our local PON's said my own 4 Way CBT in my manhole (put in for my underground phone connection as all other around are aerial feed) has two lit up ports tested ok smile

When that particular street or property is confirmed to be a Huawei or Nokia PON (not connected to an ECI OLT) the database will update from 330 to 1000.

The 1000/220 product has been available for a couple years now but until the FTTP survey/build process starts they can't update properties results to show the higher available tiers.

If there was no ECI in the FTTP network they would have updated the BT Wholesale checker en masse for everyone to 1000/220.
