G.Fast Availability - Same Cabinet - Different Results

[link to this post]

Wonder if someone can offer me some insight, id always assumed FTTC is the most available, despite the fact im sure there was a GFAST pod on the cabinet

Just been having a discussion with a neighbour who was adament that they had 150 down

So, Same street, 2 different postcodes (odd numbers/even numbers i think)
Same cabinet (cabinet 24)

S71 4FX shows not available
S71 4FY shows available

Can anyone help me understand why? Just an Openreach database error??

That's sort of expected results.

G.Fast has very limited range and it drops off quickly. The upstream can be much less on G.Fast at the tail end as seen in this street.

Low even numbers in the street have very high (330) G.Fast estimates with the estimates declining as the street numbers go up.

On the odd side G.Fast estimates start very low and tail off around door number 17.

Those beyond door number 17 are likely too far to receive the minimum requirement for G.Fast.
It's not as simple as that and there may be random houses beyond 17 that can get it and others below 17 that can't.

Although door number 17 has 156Mb Clean High estimate take a look at the impacted low upstream estimate.... 6Mb/s.
FTTC would give an almost certain 20Mb/s.

So yes the cabinet has G.Fast but half the street is too far away to receive it.
