Fibre Builds not co-terminous with exchange areas.

How far are fibre builds tightly aligned wth exchanges?

I ask because a peruse of the postcode RH2 9RA (Clifton's Lane) has FTTP showing for all the houses there.

They are served from Reigate exchange - which isn't currently a FTTP exchange.

They are however to the boundary to the Betchworth exchange (small village exchange serving Betchworth, Brockham and Box Hill) where Openreach is rolling out FTTP.

Same with RH2 9RE - on Reigate but able to access fibre.

Is Openreach overspilling exchange areas?

(No, the houses are not new builds. They are old, very expensive houses)

For copper those two postcodes are served by Reigate exchange and there is a handover node in Reigate exchange so FTTP will run back to there too, along with the fibre from the VDSL2 cabinets

Lots of areas send their fibres to more remote exchanges, plan is close 1000's of smaller exchanges

Thanks - that's really helpful!

I would have expected Betchworth to close as it's a small rural exchange. There's an indication in minutes of Betchworth Parish council that the TE is a development site.

Interesting that Reigate is a handover point; it's a rather interesting 1930s building and its location means that it would make a good redevelopment site for residential.

I'm surprised that those postcodes have received FTTP when the only other postcodes with FTTP in the area tend to be new builds. I suppose it could be FTTPOD has been purchased by a consortium of locals.
