Bought some old telegraph poles...

[link to this post]

Hey All,

So a contracting company was replacing telegraph poles today on our road, which included our DP (so we suffered a short Loss of Service). I asked the chap cheekily what he did with them after they took them down, and he said that people buy them off him. So i bought two of the decommissioned poles off him for £30 for use as flower beds, and they kindly delivered them after the new poles were up.

Thinking about it now, was it ok to of 'bought' them?

Yes - no problem.

Firstly - you bought them in good faith. So any underhandedness would be on his part. Secondly, yes they sell them. Normally to farms (we buy them, and road planings/scrappings, and old railway sleepers).
Only downside would be potential creosote in them so depending open your view they shouldn't be used in domestic gardens. But then they were for years.
