G.Network and Vorboss

[link to this post]

G.Network are very busy digging up the streets around my patch of central North London seemingly getting their network build completed.

I’m not sure if it’s sheer coincidence or some other arrangement, but along with G.Network footway chambers, in quite a few streets, we also have brand new Vorboss labelled chambers appearing with their distinctive lilac logo (most other chamber lids use the std black plastic).

Does anyone in the know if G.Network are using Vorboss for backhaul or if Vorboss have struck a deal with G.Network to dig in their ducts and chambers, effectively as a subcontract network expansion for them whilst G.N are ripping up the concrete and tarmac for their own network?

Just being nosey. 😂

It's also not unknown for one provider to sell a job lot of surplus chamber lids to another provider smile

Hehe - they must be throwing in free double and triple chambers to go with the lids wink

Where I live in Kent the only thing that that the Gigaclear chamber lids have in common is that they don't have the name Gigaclear. A chamber near to me has KC on it.

You're saying that there are Vorboss footway boxes being installed next to G.Network footway boxes? But then you said "plastic" lids, which suggests small Toby boxes rather than proper jointing chambers.

Perhaps a photo would explain more clearly?

I believe Pheasant is referring to the standard Cubis AX-S style covers, metal frame with concrete infill. These have a small plastic identity plate - most operators use the standard moulded black plastic, but Vorboss use lilac plastic.

There are many examples near me of the wrong covers being used - sometimes a router (woodworking, not networking) is used to drill out the incorrect operator's name. For those less concerned about neatness, a small angle grinder achieves the same effect.

Community Fibre have recently started sticking white on black engraved plates to some of their footway box covers, and indeed their cabinets in my area.

To clarify, yes I did mean the lilac/purple (vs usual black) coloured plastic engraved ID tags. Here is an image of such a footway box placed around a week ago. The 'normal' G.N chamber in the foreground and Vorboss chamber in the background - installed around 10 days apart. They appear to be in the same duct line. Close up here of Vorboss chamber.

This image taken from works today of a standard G.N chamber going in. Will see what lid they pop on there.

Toby boxes here, on the other hand, positioned outside properties adjacent to their VM counterparts.
