Hi,
Taking advantage here, following j0hn83's quick response to my other thread.
Here's a different connection that I am having problems with.
This is another FTTC connection. It's a Draytek 2766 router.
The actual rates are much lower than attainable.
I intend to go there some day next week to run some tests requested by the ISP. But wondering if anyone has comments in the meantime.
I've uploaded that status page to : https://ibb.co/JnDLYMP

If you ever find out what's going on with this line I would love you to fill me in.
My initial guess from looking at the stats would have been it isn't a UK line, but from your post in guessing that isn't the case.
The Draytek reports it's an IFTN (ECI) cabinet, but it also reports Retx (G.INP) is enabled on the downstream and upstream.
That's impossible. The ECI cabinets physically can't do G.INP in the upstream.
I've also no idea how the attainable can be so high, the sync be so low, but the SNRM is only 6dB?
The SNRM should be much higher.
Things like this are often down to Vectoring issues, but again the ECI cabinets can't do Vectoring...
I'm somewhat puzzled.

Thanks again j0hn83.
This was an install last September. It was a real Openreach engineer who did the job. All seemed well at first. In fact I have a screenshot showing actual download of 69336 on the 2nd December.
I'll post a link : https://ibb.co/2KsKzHn
So something has changed in the last few weeks.

It's cabinet 6 on the Falkirk exchange
https://ibb.co/NTKcskX
Looking this up on Codelook it confirms this is an ECI cabinet.
I'm intending to go there sometime next week, and do the usual test socket/ change filter/ different router checks.

When you're there next week can you login via Telnet/SSH and run the commands:
vdsl status
&
vdsl status more
They should hopefully give a little more info.
If you have 1 spare, I would be inclined to try another modem on the line when you're there to see if it syncs back to near where it should be.
It's certainly an oddity to have an attainable rate well above the sync without also having a high SNRM.
Draytek modems can show the target SNRM set by the DLM as well as the current SNRM so that might explain that particular oddity.
As for why it's showing Retx enabled on the upstream I've no idea. The ECI M41 DSLAM's that Openreach use don't support Retx on the upstream.
I'm not aware of Openreach ever using other ECI hardware.
It could just be the Draytek reporting that particular stat incorrectly.

Check the Draytek firmware is up to date too.

Thanks j0hn83.
I've got a couple of other Drayteks here, they're both older, and I'm not sure if one's maybe faulty. But I'll configure them ahead of time anyway, so I can plug in and see what it/they say.

You really do know how to embarrass a guy don't you candlerb ?????
Darn it.
Right, I'll update that tonight remotely.
I'm sure Draytek must have snuck in that new version when nobody was looking.

It could just be the Draytek reporting that particular stat incorrectly.
I've seen issues with DrayTek stats before, eg negative number of CRC errors:
https://forum.draytek.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=234...
Different modem code fixed my particular issue.

Thanks craigski
I see that thread of yours.
I'll maybe deal with other test first before pursuing the modem codes angle.
Cheers.

Hi candlerb,
Done the firmware upgrade.
Rates reported in the DSL Status page have not substantially changed.
There are some CRC, FECS, ES being reported in the Upstream, which were all previously at zero.
Thanks for the heads up

Cool. I don't have any specific knowledge of this router model. I only suggest that because in general it's a good idea, as sometimes problems have already been fixed.

I've decided that remote Telnetting is more productive than watching Das Boot, so here's the results of the telnet: https://ibb.co/Qv59cXV
This does mention vectoring support
What does jump out at me is VirtualNoise which has what looks like a high number.

Look at the sync speed now...
|
|
|
Also I got some KBD tests run earlier on the connection. They all passed.
Report : https://ibb.co/gyHv2rm
Something else that stands out here is that these tests show full speed sync.

Crossed in the post ...
Ha. that sync speed has just changed in the router's status page.
It didn't say that half an hour ago (and I have the screenshot to prove it )
Good.
I'm assuming this is either a result of the F/W upgrade and/or some reboots of the router.
Very much appreciate your input and assistance with this,
cheers.

This does mention vectoring support
Only that the firmware supports it.
Very nice 80/20 there, with 6dB SNR. You should be happy with that.
Is the web interface still showing something different? If so, don't trust it.

The web interface is now showing 79992 downstream, Actual Rate.
Great, thanks to all
