FTTP on demand questions

Hi,

I'm moving to a detached home in London soon and I'm investigating fibre options. The BT Broadband Availability Checker for my specific address shows that FTTP on demand is available, but not yet installed. The relevant notes read as follows:

The exchange is not in a current fibre priority programme
WLR is currently available at the exchange
SOADSL is restricted at the exchange
FTTP is not available.

Additionally, the cabinet is literally next to the house, and it's apparent when looking at the street running past the house that the cuts have been made recently to the cabinet, so I'm pretty confident there's fibre to the curb.

I'm willing to pay for the on-demand install, but unfortunately, my current ISP, A&A, no longer provide this service. They've advised me that I'll need to find an ISP who can do the on-demand install if I want fibre Internet.

I'd prefer to stay with a boutique ISP, so does anyone have any recommendations for one who will do on-demand installs? So far I've checked with OFNL, but they claim I'm on the Openreach network and they can't provide the service at my address.

If no boutique ISP can perform this service, does anyone have a recommendation from the pool of larger providers?

(I might also be able to justify the expense for small business-level service, if that helps.)

There's only a couple providers who sell FTTPoD. Some only do in specific regions of the country and others simply resell the service of others.
The main player being Cerberus who sell FTTPoD nationally.

Going by all the recent quotes provided by many users on this forum over the last couple years you are looking at £8k+ install fee and anywhere between 6-18 months for install time.

If you meet the requirements for the new near network trial (you need specific FTTP hardware within 500m of your address) then you may be able to get the install fee for around £3k.

The location of the cabinet is irrelevant.

FTTPoD requires a survey that cost £250+vat to find out how much the install to your address will be. This survey fee is non refundable. If you decide to go ahead within the install you need to pay the balance within 30 days of receiving your quote.

Where are you located? Community Fibre have big ambitions in London so I'm not sure I'd be too hasty to buy into FTTPoD.

Sorry, can you provide more context? I don't know what Community Fibre is, nor why it would have any impact on my decisions to do FTTPoD. Thanks!

It doesn't impact your ability to get FTTPoD, I would just be hesitant to pay for FTTPoD if another network had plans to build fibre in my area.

Thanks. I've reached out to them. They don't get great reviews, though. Perhaps their business offering is better. Do you know whether they provide at least a /48 for IPv6 service?

That's a massive assumption.
Very few cabinets have G.Fast.
